Happy New Beginnings in 2024.

Our Favorite Part.

Amazing People Making Second Chances Possible.

We have one goal for every dog that crosses our path: to find their forever home. These wonderful individuals stepped up and offered our angels the second chance we promised them. To the adopters and to our fosters who make this possible we say "Thank You!"

Carver - Adopted 12/26/2024

Our very last ‘doption of the year!

Carver came to us from a humane officer after being abandoned when his family moved away. He proved himself to be a good, lovable, and goofy sweet boy who just craved affection.

We are so thankful to his foster for providing him the safety and security of a home while he started his vet care, and showing him unconditional love.

We are so thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts to one of our Angels. Carver has a wonderful mom, who happened to fall in love with him while grooming him, a great dad, and some human siblings who are going to give this boy a full life of love and adventure. He also has some kitty friends to play with.

We wish each of you a life of love, joy and so much love you can’t stand it.

Happiest tails, handsome. You are so very loved!

Thorpe - Adopted 12/14/2024

We are absolutely thrilled and delighted to say that one of our longer residents got himself a family today! He will also be our very last adoption of the year, and we will resume in January.

Thorpe came to us in the late spring after being picked up by animal control as a stray. He spent months with his foster learning how to be a pup, getting his vetting taken care of, working on proper etiquette and learning how to be loved. We are forever thankful they agreed to let him come into their home so that he had the chance at finding a forever.

We are so very grateful to his new mom for choosing to open her home and heart to this angel and giving him a forever, and to his new extended family for being so wonderful. Thorpe will be the main king of the domain, and we know he’ll sit on his throne with pride. We wish you everyday filled with joy, love and laughter.

Happiest tails, sweet boy! You are so very loved!

India - Adopted 12/8/2024

India and her siblings joined us this summer. Their mom got out accidentally and ended up giving birth. Her owner reached out for assistance as he didn’t have the funds or knowledge on how to take care of babies. We sent food for them until they were able to leave their mom safely and offered to cover mom’s vet care and spay surgery.

Delta had a wonderful foster home willing to take her into their home and show her how to be a dog, teach her all the things she would need to be successful, and love her as their own until she found her forever. We are so very thankful for them.

We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting an Angel in need. India has a great mom and dad, some human siblings and a brother dog to show her the ropes. We wish all of them the absolute best of all this life can bring them.

Tessa came to us an emaciated gal, with horrible skin and need a lot of love and care. We are forever grateful to those who sought help for her, helped get her to where she needed to be and her foster family.

We are also so thankful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Tessa has a wonderful family to shower her with love and affection and a kitty sibling to keep her company. We wish them a life filled with happiness and love.

Jilly - Adopted 12/1/2024

At the beginning of 2024, we assisted BCHS with a hoarding case of over 90 animals. We pulled 17 dogs in horrid shape—infections, covered in mats, feces, urine burns and scalding, mites. Dogs terrified of their own shadows. We took some of the most severe medicals that we could, and also one or two who showed a propensity to fear bite because we knew they wouldn’t fare well in a kennel setting and needed someone to work with them. We had amazing fosters step up and offer their homes for these 17 souls. We also had space at that time for one or two more, but the shelter told us they had enough others helping at that point so didn’t need us to take any more.

So, on January 2, day two of the hoarding case, I saw this little doxy/beagly girl posted on a local rehoming site because she had been diagnosed with MegaEsophagus. As soon as I saw her, I reached out. Why? Because I have experience with MegaE and I knew that if she ended up with someone who had no clue about how to feed this gal, she was going to end up dead. Harsh? Yes. But true. So I went to pick her up that next day.

Jilly arrived at my home, a sweet yet sassy gal who had a long road ahead. She was on medication, but hadn’t been getting it properly. She wasn’t being fed the way she needed to be. She wasn’t crate trained or house trained. She knew nothing as far as basic commands…. And she had already had a bout of aspiration pneumonia.

So we got to work. We had multiple, multiple vet appts. We had a Bailey Chair donated by some amazing people, the founders of
Joey's PAW, and she and I did a lot of trial and error to find what she could eat, what consistency she could eat, how often she needed to eat and what her triggers were for regurgitation. Throughout all of it she was equal parts sugar and spice. She went with me everywhere until I felt comfortable that she was stable enough to spend some hours at home. And I learned she had a dissociative identity disorder—Jilly was sweet and loving and cuddly, Bill was sassy, spicy, saucy, defiant, stubborn.

Jilly learned to use her baileys chair, we had to change the consistency of her food once to get it perfect, and we got her off all medications. She may need some added in as the years pass, but that bridge will be crossed if we come to it.

As the months went on, more often than not, we had Jilly, but at times Bill would wake up and put his two cents in. And we loved every moment of it. She has character and strength and she needs both with having a life long condition.

I knew it would be tough finding her a home that would follow her needs and put the effort and time in. So she stayed with us for ten full months. And then, we found out Astrid was expecting and she needed to come to my home. So, a foster of ours asked how they could help, and I replied, “I want you to take Jilly.” We don’t normally change our foster homes, but I knew this foster would be more than capable of caring for her, and also knew that she was looking to add a permanent canine member to her household. So while it was an extremely helpful and beneficial move for both myself and Jilly, I knew it would be a matter of time before she would fall in love with this little spitfire as much as I had.

Jilly has now been in her new “foster” home since Nov 3. 4 weeks exactly today. And it’s no longer her foster home, it is her forever home.

We are so thankful to her family for choosing to adopt this special angel. She has a wonderful mom and dad, and a house that is always welcoming foster siblings for her to entertain and pass on a little of that spice to. We wish them each and every day filled with everything good that this life can bring them.

If you have Jilly’s wishlist or are collecting things for her, she will still receive them. She’s adopted, but we’ll see her often and she’s now a part of the Abby’s family forever, as an older foster sibling

Happiest tails, sweetest and spiciest Jilly. We love you so very much!

Elara - Adopted 12/1/2024

Elara came to us a very, very sick girl. She was admitted immediately to CPVets to be treated for parvo. She spent a few days there, received the monoclonal antibody treatment and was on supportive care. When she was released, she went into quarantine at a foster home to continue her care while she had follow up visits.

We are so thankful to her foster for providing her the space, safety and love she deserved and needed while she awaited her forever home.

Eliot also has cerebellar hypoplasia, a birth defect in which his cerebellum isn’t fully developed, so he will have “wobbles” his whole life. But the best part about Eliot is that he doesn’t know he’s any different, and his wobbles only make him that much cuter and more endearing.

We are so thankful to Eliot’s fosters for dedicating so much time making sure he was taken care of and healed during quarantine, working with his hypoplasia and then offering him safety, security and so much love while he awaited his forever home.

We are so grateful to Eliot’s new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Marigold - Adopted 10/27/2024

Marigold and her sister Magnolia arrived at the Haven in early June. Magnolia was missing bones in her muzzle and Marigold had a severely broken jaw. Both were verified by veterinary teams as the result of traumatic injury, and not a congenital issue.

Both girls went into their foster home to heal, learn how to love and be treated properly and to begin their journeys to heal and wellness.

Marigold had surgery to remove some necrotic bone out of her jaw and then her bones healed properly. As she began getting adequate nutrition, she grew and became such a lovely girl. Her face healed a little crooked due to the injuries sustained and she also had some damage to her hyoid bones which caused her tongue to only be able to have movement on one side of her mouth. She didn’t let that bother her though, and proved to be a girl full of zest, happiness, joy and so much light that her spirit can never be dimmed.

She waited for her forever family very patiently and made huge strides in the meantime and finished all of her veterinary care. She worked on her social skills with people and other dogs, and even learned quite a few commands. And then, her family found her.

We are so very thankful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts to adopting this Angel in need. Marigold has a wonderful mom and dad, and some kitty siblings to spend her days teasing and playing with. We wish nothing but the absolute best for her and her family and hope that each and every day is filled with the goodness, laughter and love that she very much deserves.

Her owner reached out for assistance as he didn’t have the funds or knowledge on how to take care of babies. We sent food for them until they were able to leave their mom safely and offered to cover mom’s vet care and spay surgery.

Delta had a wonderful foster willing to take her into their home and show her how to be a dog, teach her all the things she would need to be successful, and love her as their own until she found her forever. We are so very thankful for them.

We are so grateful to her new mom and dad for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting an Angel in need. Delta will be the queen of her castle with many new people to visit and love and win hearts from. We wish all of them the absolute best of all this life can bring them.

Happiest tails, sweet girl. You are so very loved!

Florence - Adopted 10/4/2024

Florence and her two sisters were taken to a shelter when they were only a few weeks old and grew up there until they were around 5 months old. They had never stepped foot in a home and had no idea what life was like outside of a kennel.

Thankfully, we had a foster willing to take her in and give her all of the things she had only dream about prior—safety, and structure, finishing vet care, a couch to dream on, human and doggos friends to play with, and most of all, love. We are so grateful to her foster home for giving her the opportunity to get her forever.

We are so thankful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting an Angel in need. Florence has a wonderful mom and dad who adore her already. She has some kitty siblings to play with and get to know, and best of all, her happily ever after.

We wish you all the very best of everything life can bring you.

Happy tails, beautiful Florence. You are so very loved!

Edie - Adopted 10/3/2024

Edie arrived to the Haven after she and a fursibling had been left in a home alone when their owner passed away. No one knew he had passed, and we are unsure how long they waited for someone to realize it.

Edie and her friend Evan were taken in by a kind Samaritan until a rescue could help. Thankfully, Edie and Evan both had people step up to give them temporary reprieve until they found their forevers.

In Edie’s case, her foster home decided to become her forever home.

We are so thankful to her family for opening their heart and home and allowing this beautiful Angel a safe spot to land and be loved. She quickly made herself at home and decided to not leave. Her fursister Red (left), formerly Lauren—also an Angel adopted from the Haven, is happy to have a permanent new member of the family. We are thankful to this family for all of the kiddos they’ve given safety and love to, and we wish them all their days filled with love, laughter and joy.

Happiest tails, sweet girl! You are so very loved!

Najee - Adopted 9/29/2024

Najee was a surrender after a young man got him from a neglectful situation and then realized he was unable to have a dog at his rental home. He reached out for help because this little guy needed a lot of guidance and knew nothing about being a dog and had no other dogs to learn from.

Najee went to his foster home and learned from the two resident doggos all the acceptable dog etiquette, learned how to interact with his foster kitties, and worked hard on learning proper bite inhibition with the sometimes unwilling help of his foster kids. He fit in so well, that they decided they would like him to stay to ensure he always had a doggo friend to learn from, play with and to complete their family.

We are so thankful to his family for choosing to open their home and hearts to adopting this Angel in need, and fostering so many others over the years, including little Najee. We want nothing but love filled days, deep belly laughter, and joy to last for always.

Happy tails, sweet boy! You are so very loved!

Piglet - Adopted 9/29/2024

Piglet came to us at the end of July/beginning of August as a tiny puppy set to be euthanized…. And she had a broken elbow. We immediately started veterinary care and she had weeks and weeks and several sets of cast type splints to make sure her bones healed properly. In the meantime, she made lots of friends, won over a bunch of hearts, and got her vaccines taken care of.

Needless to say, she’s been with her forever family since the day she arrived because her foster decided pretty early on that this gal was the one. Her foster turned forever mom said “we’ve fostered many dogs, and I never thought I would ever be a foster fail until this little girl came along.”

We are so thankful to her family for choosing to open their home and hearts to not only adopting an Angel in need, but for being such a wonderful foster home for several of our Angels. Piglet, now Wylee, has some awesome pawrents, plus some forever fursiblings—two GSD siblings, a Boston terrier brother, a kitty sibling, and of course, a foster sibling or two

We wish all of them every day filled with love, happiness and laughter, and we know this Angel will have the best life she can dream of.

Happy tails, beautiful girl. You are so very loved!

Lora - Adopted 9/27/2024

Lora came to the Haven in May with her sisters, after they spent most of their 5 months of life in a shelter since the time they were only a few weeks old. They didn’t know life outside of a shelter, and they deserved that opportunity.

We are so thankful to Lorna’s foster family for providing her the safety, security and love she desperately needed to grow into an amazing girl who loves life and affection. They equipped her with the tools she needed to be a wonderful dog—basic training, taking her to her appointments, exposing her to new situations and experiences, and showering her with love and affection, so she could be ready to live her best life.

We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting an Angel in need. Lorna has two wonderful pawrents, some human siblings and a kitty of her very own to love for all of her days. We wish all of them as much joy, laughter and happiness that this life can bring.

Happy tails, beautiful girl. You are so very loved!

Paris - Adopted 9/26/2024

Remember me Thursday is held in honor of pets who never knew a forever home. It is used to shine a light on pet adoption each year. There are millions of pets waiting for their forever homes—yes, millions. And sadly, there are close to a million shelter pets euthanized each year in the United States alone. Paris is thankful she did not become one of those statistics, but rather one who found hope and love.

Paris and her siblings came into the Haven after finding themselves in a shelter. A shelter who tries their very hardest to network and get their dogs to rescue where they stand a better chance of being advocates of Remember Me Thursday instead of ones who need remembered.

We are so thankful to her forever family for choosing to open their hearts and home and adopting another Angel in need. Paris has a wonderful mom and dad, two young human brothers, and joins a furbrother Loki, who was adopted from us a few years ago. We wish all of them every ounce of happiness and love that can fill every single day.

Happy tails, beautiful girl. You are so very loved!

Vanellope - Adopted 9/21/2024

Vanellope arrived at the Haven in March after spending ten days hospitalized with her siblings due to parvo. 15 puppies were in the ICU, only 6 survived and she was the teeniest tiniest of all of them.

When she was picked up from veterinary care, we noticed she had some pretty severe bone deformities in both of her front legs. At her next vet visit, she had one of those legs splinted in a makeshift cast to correct the bones that had begun to overlap, and we made sure she was on the diet she needed to be on to be getting the nutrition she required to help her bones. Thankfully, both of Vanellopes front legs corrected properly with the help of the splint and nutrition. She’s hit a few bumps in the road with other random things—bloodwork that came back irregular so we did further testing, quite a few UTI’s, but each time she bounced back with enthusiasm and zest and basically said “I was just playing I’m fine, just wanted you to have something to do.”

She is an extremely intelligent girl and picked up on her commands and training very quickly. She loves everyone and all animals… and yet still she waited. She quickly became a town celebrity during her wait and she was stopped often to be greeted and many times heard “is that Vanellope?!” And she soaked in every single bit of attention.

Today, her wait is over.

We are so very thankful to her new dad for choosing to open his home and heart and adopting this Angel in need. Vanellope will have his full attention when they’re at home, which she will love, and then she’ll get to go to work with him and play with all the other work doggos during the week. We could not have asked for a better fit for her needs, and we are so thrilled she will have the life she deserves.

We wish both of you each day filled with laughter, aroos, vibrating tails, and above all, lots and lots of love.

Happiest tails, beautiful girl. You are so, so very loved!

Coleman - Adopted 9/21/2024

Coleman arrived this summer with his mom Catalina and his brother and sister. They had been dumped at a campground and a Good Samaritan took them in and got them as healthy as they could. They reached out to the haven when they knew they would be ok, so that we could get them the needed vet care and to find them their forever homes.

We are so thankful to Coleman’s foster family for providing and offering him a safe home to flourish in while he had his vet appointments, for helping him to learn how to be a proper dog, and to help get him ready for her new family.

We are so grateful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Coleman has a wonderful mom and dad and a kitty sibling all to himself! We wish all of them the most joy, love and laughter this life can offer.

Happiest tails, handsome boy! You are so very loved!

Tilly - Adopted 9/17/2024

Tilly came to us a little over a month ago and started her vetting. She had never started her puppy vaccines, so we started those, did her deworming, and her foster began work on her socialization and getting her ready to transition to living in a forever home. She quickly showed she is full of sass and spunk, but equal parts sweet and adorable. We are so thankful to her foster for providing the safety and security she needed to get off on the right paw, in order to get her happily ever after.

We are so thankful to her new mom and dad for choosing to open their hearts and home and adopting this Angel in need. Not only does she have wonderful and adoring pawrents, she has two fursiblings to teach her the ways of life and to keep her days filled with love and adventure. We wish all of you every day filled with joy, windmill tail wags, and so much love.

Happy tails, sweet girl. You are so very loved!

Nadia - Adopted 9/10/2024

Nadia arrived this summer a shy but sweet girl who had been picked up by animal control as a stray. She had an amazing foster open their doors and let her call their house home while she worked on her training, manners, and having all of her vet care completed. We are so thankful to her foster for providing the love and support she needed to be ready for today and her forever.

We are so thankful to her new mom for choosing to open her home and heart and adopting this Angel in need. Nadia will be the top dawg and queen of her castle and is ready to share all the love, adventure, laughter and happiness that this life can bring to them both.

Happiest tails, beautiful girl. You are so very loved!

Yeti - Adopted 9/7/2024

Yeti arrived this summer with his mom Catalina and his brother and sister. They had been dumped at a campground and a Good Samaritan took them in and got them as healthy as they could. They reached out to the haven when they knew they would be ok, so that we could get them the needed vet care and to find them their forever homes.

We are so thankful to Yeti’s foster family for providing and offering him a safe home to flourish in while he had his vet appointments, for helping him to learn how to be a proper dog, and to help get him ready for her new family.

We are so grateful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Yeti has two wonderful parents and three human kiddos who are completely in love with him! We wish all of them the most joy, love and laughter this life can offer.

Happiest tails, handsome boy! You are so very loved!

Terra - Adopted 9/7/2024

Terra arrived this summer with her mom Catalina and her two brothers. They had been dumped at a campground and a Good Samaritan took them in and got them as healthy as they could. Terra was in pretty bad shape when they found her, but she started to thrive! They reached out to the haven when they knew they would be ok, so that we could get them the needed vet care and to find them their forever homes.

We are so thankful to Terra’s foster family for providing and offering her a safe home to flourish in while she had her vet appointments for helping her to learn how to be a proper dog, and to help get her ready for her new family.

We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Terra has two wonderful parents, three little boys who she adores already, and a big furbrother at home waiting to show her the ropes and make sure she has someone to play with. We wish all of them the most joy, love and laughter this life can offer.

Happiest tails, sweet girl! You are so very loved!

Echo - Adopted 9/3/2024

Echo and his siblings, the Patriot Pups, arrived at the Haven in July and began their journey to health and learning how to properly dog with their foster homes.

We are so thankful to Echo’s foster for giving him the safety, security, direction and love he needed while he got the majority of his vet care completed. They worked hard on his training and socialization, on redirection, bite inhibition and learning proper puppy play. Because of a foster being willing to give him a temporary home and endless love, he has the opportunity for a forever home with even more people to love him for always.

We are so grateful to his new family for choosing to open their hearts and home and adopting this Angel in need. Echo has two wonderful pawrents, and his very own hooman brother to grow up with and spend every day finding new adventures to have. We wish all four of them a life filled with joy, new beginnings, laughter, new memories and all the love they can handle.

Happiest tails, sweetest boy. You are so very loved!

Sloan - Adopted 8/31/2024

Sloan arrived to the Haven in March and quickly showed she was a spirited, loving and very sweet and sometimes sassy girl.

She went into her foster home, who we are extremely thankful for, and worked on her manners, proper house living, some confidence and socialization building, and growing into her personality while we got all of her bloodwork, vaccines and vet care taken care of. She learned a great deal and stole some hearts, but she was very much ready for a home of her own. It is because of fosters that we are able to take in gals just like Sloan and get them healthy and help them find them the lives they were born to live and the families they were born to love.

We are so very grateful to her forever home for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Sloan is blessed with a mom, an uncle and some grandparents of her own who will treat her with kindness and let her be the Queen of their castle. We wish each of them all the love, laughter and joy that they can handle.

Happiest tails, beautiful girl! You are so very loved!

Dixie - Adopted 8/31/2024

Dixie came to us a couple of months back due to an unfortunate change in her former living situation. She arrived extremely overweight, but still in good spirits. She went into her foster home and adjusted very quickly, making herself at home. We are so thankful that her foster family decided to say yes to allowing her the safety, security and love she needed. She finished up her vet care, and they decided that she made herself so at home, that she should probably just stay.

So, thank you to her forever family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. They have loved her since day one, and will love her until the last. She has some doggo siblings, and a mom and dad who are very experienced helping with rescue dogs. She’ll continue working on getting some more weight off, but we know she will have fun doing it. We wish all of you so much love, happiness and joy and each day filled with all of your dreams come true.

Happiest tails, sweet girl. You are so loved!

Murphy - Adopted 8/30/2024

Murphy arrived a young pup as an owner surrender due to the cat in the home being afraid of him. When he joined his foster home, it was clear he needed to learn to trust a bit, had some fears and needed just a touch up on manners, but overall he was the absolute best behaved and easiest puppy his foster mom has ever had the pleasure of loving. His tail quite literally never stopped wagging unless he was asleep. He quickly was house and crate trained and learned to sit. He did excellently with his foster cat, and all of his foster dogs. He frequented our office and always did an amazing job being the poster boy for well behaved dogs with all who entered. He is sweet, loving, affectionate and such a good boy. He received all of his vet care-all vaccines, bloodwork, deworming and his neuter while with his foster and showed he was so ready for a home of his own.

We are so thankful for his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Murphy has a wonderful mom and dad, a human sister who wants to be his favorite, a human brother, and two fur doggo siblings to keep him company and show him around his new life. We wish all of them every day filled with laughter, love, and many, many years of Murphy drumming his happiness to the beat of his tail.

Happiest tails, handsome little one. You are so very much loved!

Ivylynn - Adopted 8/26/2024

Ivylynn (left) came to the haven a couple of months ago after her owner hit a hardship and could not longer care for her. She proved that she is one of the sweetest girls ever imaginable. She loves hard. She attaches quickly. And she craves love.

We are so thankful to her foster for allowing her the time she needed to settle in, showing her kindness and love, while we covered the vetting needs of all of her vaccines, tests and surgery. She had several foster fursiblings to keep her company and even two foster human siblings to help ease her into what a new life would look like. And they all loved her immensely.

We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Ivylynn now has her very own fur sister and two great pawrents to give her the happily ever after she very much deserves. We wish all of you a life filled with laughter, joy and every day filled with love.

Happiest tails, pretty girl! You are so very loved!

Winston - Adopted 8/23/2024

Winston came to us from a humane officer case and quickly proved himself to be such a sweet, goofy and loveable boy. He had some matting that needed taken care of and had to complete all his vetting and he arrived just before his first birthday.

We are so thankful to his foster home for providing him the safety, security, and love that he so very needed to show what a truly amazing boy he was meant to be. They helped him work on his training and manners and made sure he felt nothing but love and kindness while his vetting was taken care of.

We are also so grateful to his adoptive family, for choosing to open their home and heart and adopting this Angel in need. Winston has an amazing mom and dad and will now live on a huge farm with land to explore and run. He will be the only prince of his castle, with more attention and love than he’ll know what to do with. We wish all three of them all of the love, happiness and laughter that this life can bring them.

Happiest tails, handsome boy! You are so very loved!

Aly - Adopted 8/22/2024

Aly arrived at the haven just shy of 3 months ago after being found as a stray by animal control and taken to the shelter. We named her after an Olympian because she has the strength, determination and spirit to achieve her dreams. And today her dream came true.

Aly has spent her time since arrival in her foster home, learning her place in a home, in a pack and working on her confidence with people and with life in general. She has received all of her vet care and just was waiting for the perfect forever to come along.

She decided that her perfect forever was already found, and claimed her foster dad as her forever dad today. We are so thankful to her foster, and now adopter, for opening his home and heart to fostering and ultimately adopting this precious angel in need. She also has three doggo siblings to spend her days playing with and picking on. We wish all of them all the joy, laughter, houndy howls, playtime and love that their hearts can handle.

Happiest tails, sweet girl! You are so very loved!

Walter - Adopted 8/20/2024

Walter was picked up by animal control as a stray who was extremely emaciated and had infections everywhere. He was taken to a shelter, where they began a refeed program. He began gaining weight and then got very sick again, and he tested positive for parvo. He spent a week as a very sick boy who fought very hard to get better. And then we had a foster open up and say they could take him.

So, he entered the haven and began the rest of his vet care, learning how to live in a home with other animals and a family. He began working on his basic manners and commands and awaited his forever. We are so thankful to his foster home for providing him the opportunity at having a life filled with love.

We are also so thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting an Angel in need. Walter has a wonderful mom and dad who fell in love with him immediately, two human boys to love, and a few doggo and kitty siblings to teach him the ways of life. We have no doubts he’s going to have the life of his dreams, and we wish all of you as much happiness and love as your hearts can handle.

We know he’s ready too, because he couldn’t wait to leave and didn’t even want his photo taken

Happiest tails, handsome boy. You are so very loved!

Magnolia - Adopted 8/4/2024

Magnolia and her sister arrived at the Haven just shy of two months ago. They were surrendered to a shelter who found that Marigold had a pretty severely broken jaw and Magnolia had a hole through her hard palate into her nasal cavities. X-rays revealed that she was also missing the majority of the bones in her rostrum/muzzle.

They came to the haven to their foster home and spent lot of time healing, having lots of testing, X-rays, specialist visits. But as they healed, they began to flourish and blossom into beautiful, wonderful little girls.

Magnolia’s hole has closed and at this time her specialist and primary vet wanted her to take some time to grow to see what will be needed medically once she’s a little bigger. So she worked on socialization, being exposed to new situations, learning some manners, and being a happy puppy while she waited for a family to realize she was what they’ve been missing.

She met them a couple of weeks ago at an event for
Joey's PAW, and today, they made it official.

We are so thankful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this special Angel in need. She has the most amazing mom and dad who have taken in and healed many special needs dogs, and she will be no exception. She will be traveling to OSU in the future for veterinary exams and specialist visits. She has amazing fursiblings—Boone, Joey, Crew & Temperance who have approved her arrival and are ready to show her the ropes to her new amazing life. She is also going to begin training immediately to help out her brother Boone with his work going to schools, events and hopefully becoming a part of the PIT Paws dogs of the Pittsburgh Airport.

We could not be happier for our little Angel, and we wish you all the best, most joyful life filled with so much love.

Happiest tails, sweet Magnolia. You are so very loved!

Jenny - Adopted 8/2/2024

Jenny arrived to the Haven with her sisters after being pretty much raised from babies until 5 months old in a shelter. The shelter knew they needed rescue so they didn’t end up a statistic and growing into adulthood living in kennels. So, here they came.

We are so thankful to her foster family for providing her the safety, security and direction Jenny needed to learn how to be a dog in a home, how to be very much loved and that they gave her the tools she needed to transition to a family of her very own.

We are so thankful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this angel in need. Jenny has a great mom and dad and also a fur brother who is waiting to welcome her into their home and show her the ropes and spend their lives frolicking together into the sunset.

We wish all of you the very best that life can bring you, endless wags and kisses, and all the love you can handle.

Happiest tails sweet girl. You are so very loved!

Gracie & Willie - Adopted 8/1/2024

Gracie (left) and Willie (right) came to us from some very unfortunate circumstances. They were living in a home that was filled to the ceiling with trash, debris, mold, feces and every kind of pest. We got a call from the Borough police to come remove the dogs from the home as they could not live in those conditions and needed a good bit of vet care.

The girls went into a foster home together and started vaccines, had infections treated; worked on proper weight and nutrition and learning how to be house trained and living in a clean environment.

Their previous home was so bad that Gracie lived upstairs unable to make her way down the steps to the first floor. Willie lived downstairs, unable to make her way upstairs, and consumed cat food and whatever else she could find. They used the bathroom wherever they stood as they hadn’t been outside in a very long time. They needed to relearn how to be proper dogs. And we knew they would need a forever home that was patient, kind and willing to continue working on teaching them kindness and love.

We are so thankful to their foster home for providing them the stability, love, kindness and care they so desperately needed and deserved. Their health has improved by leaps and bounds. They are full of life and excitement. And they love…. Very hard.

We are also so very grateful to their new forever home. Their new mom and dad applied to adopt one of them. When it came time for the meet and greet so that we could see which one fit best with them, they both did amazingly well with the existing animals and made it a very hard choice for their family. And so, their family simply couldn’t choose so asked to adopt both of them together. Even though they are not a bonded pair, they spent all of their time in foster care side by side, so we were thrilled they would have the opportunity to continue to flourish, together.

Gracie and Willie have a wonderful mom and dad and some doggo siblings to keep showing them the ropes of life. We have no doubt they will be loved immensely and fully, And taken care of for all of their days.

We wish all of you the absolute best that this life can bring you.

Happiest tails, sweetest girls. You are so very loved!

Phelps - Adopted 7/29/2024

Phelps arrived to the Haven with his siblings after being taken to the shelter as strays. They all needed some TLC—were extremely thin, full of worms, and in need of some major trust building and hard work on socialization.

We are so thankful to his foster family, because they stepped up and gave him everything he needed and all the tools imaginable to ensure he could succeed. They worked on all the things he lacked and capitalized on his strengths and made sure he was ready for a family of his very own. Words don’t accurately express how grateful we are to our foster homes and families. They truly give these dogs a chance at beautiful lives.

We are also so grateful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Phelps has two human brothers, a human sister, two kitty siblings and a great mom and dad who are All so excited to welcome him home. We wish all of you the absolute best life imaginable, filled with laughter, joy and love.

Happiest tails, sweet boy! You are so very loved!

Luigi - Adopted 7/15/2024

Luigi was one of the older dogs we had taken to help. He had likely been in that house for the majority of his life. His skin was scalded from urine and feces. He had severe skin infections. He lost most of his hair, most of it has not grown back due to scarring. He had extreme tartar and dental issues, he had multiple teeth removed. He had bloodwork repeated several times, skin scrapes and we tried different combinations of diets and meds to get him as healthy as he could get. His skin now looks so much better. His overall health is fantastic. He has not yet taken to playing with toys, but he has learned how to accept and give love and snuggles with the best of him. Without his fosters, none of this could have ever been possible. Without the help of our community, we couldn’t have helped any of those 17 dogs. So to his fosters and to you—we are forever grateful.

We are so thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and their hearts and adopting this sweet older gentle Angel in need. He is a young 8-9 years and has so much life left to live. We’re thankful he now has an amazing mom and sister to have for the rest of his days, and a home he can rule to his hearts content as the only spoiled fur member of his domain. We wish the three of you each day filled with sunshine, joy and so much love.

Luigi may be the last of the dogs from the hoarding situation, and this chapter may be closing… but his life has just begun.

Happiest tails handsome man. You are so, so very loved!

Suni - Adopted 7/13/2024

Suni arrived at the haven just under two months ago after being found as a stray and taken to a shelter. At only four months old, the shelter reached out and asked if we had room as she is extremely intelligent and needed a place to work on her training end socialization. We agreed, but before she could come, the shelter told us she went to a foster to adopt home. So, we pulled another dog in her place. And then, she ended up with us anyway because her foster to adopt didn’t work out. We thankfully had a foster willing and able to take her into their home and start working with her on how to be a proper pup!

We are so thankful to her foster for providing her a safe space to land, to learn to work on her mouthing and teething behaviors, to work on basic obedience and giving this beauty the opportunity to find the home she dreamed of.

We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their hearts and home to adopting another Angel in need. Suni has a wonderful mom and dad who have lots of Shepherd experience. She has an older Shep brother Gunnar, who was also adopted from Abby’s a few years back, and she has an older Shep sister, Nyx. She also has some kitty siblings! We know she’s in great hands and will have the continued tools to thrive and grow!

We wish all of you the absolute most love and joy this life can bring you.

Happiest tails sweet Suni!! You are so very loved!

Simone - Adopted 7/12/2024

Simone was brought to a shelter as a stray with her siblings a couple of months ago and the shelter reached out to ask if we could help so that they didn’t grow up in a shelter being unsocialized. We thankfully had fosters step up to welcome Simone and her siblings into their homes to give them a great foundation to begin their forever lives.

We are so thankful to Simone’s foster family for providing her the safety, security and love that she needed to gain confidence, to learn to step out of her comfort zone, and for working on her socialization with people, kids, and a ton of other animals. They helped her grow and flourish so that she would be prepared for the next step in her journey.

We are so very grateful for her new family for choosing to open their heart and homes and adopting this Angel in need. Simone has a wonderful mom and dad, some human siblings, and two doggo siblings at home waiting to welcome her and show her the ropes. We wish all of you the very best that life can bring you, and every day filled with laughter, adventure and so much love.

Happiest tails sweet girl! You are so very loved!

Carley - Adopted 7/8/2024

Carley came to the haven a few months ago due to health complications of her previous owner. Carley is just a young gal who needed a home that could properly care for her and keep up with her zest for life.

She went to her foster home and got her vetting started, worked on her basic leash walking and training and awaited her forever home. We are so thankful to her foster for giving her a safe space to be loved until she found the perfect place for her paws to land.

We are so thankful to her forever family, for choosing to open their home and hearts to adopting another Angel in need. A few months ago, they adopted our Milo and have given him the very best home. But, he was longing for a playmate who could keep up with his own zest for life. So, they and he met Carley, and the two pups instantly hit it off. Carley has the most amazing family she could dream of, and she also has an older fur sister who will continue teaching her the ropes and be thankful there’s another who can keep up with Milo.

We wish all of you the very, very best that this life can bring your way and hope that each day is filled with laughter, happiness and love.

Happiest tails, sweet girl. You are so very loved!

Katie - Adopted 6/29/2024

Katie and her siblings were found as strays and taken to the shelter. They began basic care, but needed a rescue to take them under their wings to help with their weights, parasites and working on their socialization.

Thankfully Katie got herself a wonderful foster family who gave her a safe space to learn to be loved, be part of a family, work on getting her healthy and helping her become a more confident pup. We are so grateful to her fosters, as she has made great progress. She’ll still have a way to go, but she has an excellent foundation.

We are so very thankful to her new dad for choosing to open his home and heart to adopting this Angel in need. She has a wonderful dad dedicated to giving her all she could ever need. Katie will be the absolute spoiled Queen she deserves to be and has a kitty sibling to rule the roost with. Her dad even brought along her appointed Godfather or should we say “Dogfather” who will also be a huge part of her life.

We wish Katie, her dad and her kitty sibling the absolute most joy, love and amazing life they could ever have imagined.

Happiest tails sweetest girl. You are so loved!

Misti - Adopted 6/22/2024

Misty arrived at the Haven with her siblings after being found as strays and taken to a shelter. They arrived very thin, needing some TLC and socialization.

Misty had a wonderful foster family step up to take her into their home and provide her care, training, love and teach her all about living in a family environment. Because of this, Misty has begun to flourish, thrive and is going to have the best shot at becoming the dog she was meant to be. We are so very grateful to her foster family for giving her the chance at forever.

We are so thankful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Misty has a wonderful mom and dad who are so thrilled to welcome her to their family, and three human siblings of her very own to share the rest of her life with.

We wish all of you so much joy, love and happiness that your hearts can’t stand it!

Happiest tails, beautiful girl! You are so very loved!

Elsa - Adopted 6/21/2024

Elsa came to the Haven about two months ago after being surrendered. She was having some urinary issues so we immediately got her in to see the vet. They did a urinalysis and an ultrasound and found she had an untreated infection that had caused some bladder wall thickening and that her bladder was made just a bit small for her body. We got the infection cleared up and she settled into her foster home to finish up the rest of her vetting and prepare for her forever.

We are so thankful to her foster family for keeping her happy, safe and loved. For helping her integrate into their home and existing pack. For working with her on her needs and helping get her healthy. Without our foster homes, we are unable to continue helping dogs in need.

We are so thankful to her new dad for choosing to open his home and heart and adopting this Angel in need. Elsa will be the queen of her castle with lots of extended family and friends, including their doggos, to help make her life full of love and joy. We wish both of you the absolute most love and joy that this life can bring you. Elsa has her spay surgery scheduled at the end of next month, so you’ll be seeing her once more, but for now…

Happiest tails sweetest beauty! You are so very loved!

Bradley - Adopted 6/17/2024

Bradley joined us a few months ago. He didn’t have a great start in his journey to get here… he found himself on a euthanasia list at a shelter, was initially pulled by another rescue, then started having major health issues, was emaciated, was having liver issues and his bloodwork was awful. But, he persevered despite it all.

He joined us here had an amazing foster family who worked on adding about 10-15 lbs to his frame, he began heartworm treatment, he became a part of their family and was enjoying affection, attention and love, working on his health and his manners until he found a family of his very own. We are so thankful for his foster family for allowing him the safety and security of their home and loving him as their own. He still has to complete his treatments, so you’ll see him again, but we are so happy he has his family to love now.

We are also so very grateful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this angel in need. Bradley has an amazing mom and dad who have been excitedly awaiting his adoption day. He has some kitty siblings who have already been breaking in his bed for him and awaiting his arrival too! We are so very happy for this boy and his new family and wish all of you the absolute most love, joy and laughter that this life can bring to you. May his goofy grin brighten your every day.

Happiest tails, most handsome Bradley, now Barkley. You are so very loved!

Oscar - Adopted 6/14/2024

Oscar, and his brother and sister, were living under a shed as babies. Another rescue reached out and asked if we could help these then little 6-7 week old pups before something happened to them. So a foster said yes and that became the real start to their journey.

We are so thankful to his foster family for working so hard to socialize this handsomest, sweet boy! He was introduced to other dogs, kids, cats, chickens and became comfortable with everyone and everything! They did a great job giving him a safe space and lots of love while he grew and got vet care, and worked on his basic training while he awaited his forever.

We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts to adopting an Angel in need. Oscar has a wonderful mom and dad, and two human siblings of his very own! We wish all the best to all of you and hope each moment is filled with memories, laughter and so much love!

Happiest tails, sweet boy! You are so loved!

Zola - Adopted 6/9/2024

Zola came to us a few months back as an owner surrender due to no fault of her own. She for some updated vet care, and settled into her foster home. She quickly showed herself to be an extremely sweet, fairly calm and very affectionate and loving gal. We are so thankful to her foster for offering her the safety, securing and structure she needed to transition and for preparing her for her forever. Without foster homes, none of our Angels can come to the haven and find their forevers.

We are also grateful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this angel in need. Zola has a wonderful new mom and adult human sister, and a furbrother to keep her company for the rest of their days. We truly wish you every day filled with joy, happiness and so much love.

Happiest tails beautiful ZoZo! We love you so much!

Midas - Adopted 6/8/2024

Midas and his two brothers arrived in March and are all parvo survivors. They had a sister who unfortunately succumbed to this disease. The boys spent two weeks hospitalized and being treated until they tested negative, and then made their way into their foster home. Each of these boys, despite overcoming a deadly illness and missing out on some key socialization periods, are happy, sweet and such great little boys.

We are so thankful to his foster family for providing them with the care, love and safety that they so very much needed. They worked through multiple, multiple rounds of deworming, vet visits, and getting their GI tracts back in line after the virus decimated their gut flora. Thankfully, they thrived and along the way learned how to properly live in a home, with people who love them, and taught them all the basics of puppyhood, and then some.

We are so grateful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts to adopting this Angel in need. Midas will also be the king of his domain with a great mom and dad who are just thrilled to have him join their home. We wish all of you the very best that this life can bring you, and every day filled with joy, happiness and love.

Happiest tails little man. You are so very loved!

Atlas - Adopted 6/3/2024

I got a desperate plea in September of 2023 to help this boy who had been chained outside and intentionally starved. He weighed 37 lbs when he was seized by the shelter and animal control. He was nothing but bone and skin. His muscle mass had wasted away. His head a perfect triangle because he had lost the fat pads around his temples. You could see every vein and tendon he had, and you could see literally every single bone in his body. I agreed and knowing it was urgent, said yes with no real plan in place—something I rarely do if I can help it. I drove to get him.

When the shelter volunteer opened the back of her vehicle, I lost the ability to even take a breath. I had never in my entire life seen a dog in such horrible condition, and I hope to never again. I don’t even know how he had the strength to stand, and I have no doubt that even one more day at that sorry excuse for a home, and he would’ve never made it into my vehicle.

Watching him walk, I had to look away from him. And I’ve never ever had to do that either. There has never been a dog I’ve had to look away...

Gretel - Adopted 6/2/2024

Beautiful Gretel arrived at the Haven a little over two months ago. She and her brother had some fears, some food issues and some vetting to get through.

She stayed with her foster where she continued working on not being defensive of food and high value toys with other dogs, she got several sets of vaccines, dewormer, lots of baths and brushing—and she worked very hard on her crate and house training, and learned lots of awesome commands and tricks so she could show off to her new family. Gretel is an extremely shy girl, who needs time to warm up to people and dogs, but absolutely needs another dog to play with, learn from and keep her company. Dogs are what brings her the most joy, besides finding every toy in existence, some yummy treats and some human cuddling.

We are so thankful to her new family for choosing to open their home and heart to adopting this Angel in need. Gretty has a wonderful new mom who loves her already, a teenage human brother, a kitty sibling and two doggo brothers to spend her day romping and finding trouble to get into with.

We wish all of you the very best that this life can bring you, and all the joy, laughter and love your hearts can handle.

Happiest tails, most beautiful girl. You are so very loved!

Roland - Adopted 6/1/2024

Roland and his siblings had been abandoned in a shed without food or water and without human interaction. PSP contacted us and asked if we could assist and Kelli & Nicole drove out to the property, made their way through a shed of filth, dirt and rusty tools, and worked on getting the pups out and checked over. The pups literally screamed when they were touched, picked up and held. Nicole and Kelli cleaned them up, cut their nails, started them on dewormer and did initial intakes and assessments, and thankfully we had some wonderful foster homes step up on extremely short notice and offer to open their doors to these babies and help get them healthy and social, the way puppies need to be.

Roland had an amazing foster family who has done a beautiful job helping this boy out of his shell, and getting him healthy. They worked extremely hard on socialization with new things and new people, and also on commands and basic obedience and he has done so very well! It’s such a testament to not only how smart these babies are, but how invested our foster families are to ensure these pups are ready for new homes and are able to integrate into new lives with relative ease. We can’t do any of this without them and are so grateful!

We are so very thankful as well to his new family, for choosing to open their hearts and home and adopting an Angel in need. Roland has a wonderful new dad and family, complete with his very own kitties to love! We wish all of you the absolute best life together filled with joy, laughter and so much love you don’t even know how to stand it.

Happiest tails, handsome boy! You are so loved!

Hansel - Adopted 5/30/2024

Handsome Hansel arrived at the Haven a little over two months ago. He and his sister had some fears, some food issues and some vetting to get through.

He stayed with his foster where he continued working on not being defensive of food and high value toys with other dogs, he got several sets of vaccines, dewormer, lots of baths and brushing—and he worked very hard on his crate and house training, and learned lots of awesome commands and tricks so he could show off to his new family. He shed enough hair to make a clone of himself each week, but his every day was full of joy as he is the happiest little man.

We are so thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and heart to adopting this Angel in need. Hansel has a new mom and dad who adore him and are already planning his continued training, a sweet little human sister who is avidly trying to share all the toys and treats in the world with him, and he’s got some kitty siblings to keep him on the straight and narrow.

We wish all of you the very best that this life can bring you, and all the joy, laughter and love your hearts can handle.

Happiest tails, sweetest boy. You are so very loved!

Ralph - Adopted 5/26/2024

Ralph and his 14 siblings were hospitalized in critical care after contracting parvo. Though they all fought hard, only 6 of the 15 were able to overcome this highly fatal and highly contagious virus. He and the other 5 spent two weeks in the hospital before they tested negative and were well enough to be released. They then made it to their foster homes and began to learn what life is supposed to be like.

We are so thankful to his foster home for providing him the space, comfort and security he needed while he learned how to play, started learning some basic manners, and began to learn how to be loved and show love.

We are also so grateful to his new mom for choosing to open their hearts and home to adopting an Angel in need. Ralph has great mom who will love and spoil him, a doggo sibling who will keep teaching him the ropes to a successful and happy life, and a human sister and brother who already adore him.

We wish all of you so much joy and love that your hearts can’t stand it.

Happiest tails handsome boy. You are so very loved!

Cassie - Adopted 5/18/2024

Cassie came to us last year. She had been trapped as a feral, taken to the shelter where she wasn’t doing real well. She went to foster with one of the shelter volunteers until they could find a rescue to agree to take her in and work with her and then find her a home.

Thankfully, we had a foster step up and offer Cassie a safe, loving environment to help her come out of her shell a bit and continue getting used to living in a home. We are so grateful to her foster for giving Cassie that opportunity.

We are so grateful to her new mom and dad for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Cassie has a mom and dad dedicated to giving her the time and patience she needs to settle in, and she’ll have a doggo brother to help her along and to keep her company. We wish all of you the most joy and love that this life can bring you!

Happiest tails, sweet girl! You are so very loved!

Norman - Adopted 5/11/2024

Norman was one of the 95+ dogs from the Bedford case. We welcomed 17 of those dogs into the Haven, and little Norman here, was one of the worst physically. He had some urine scalding, some hair patches missing and some skin infections, and while he didn’t look the worst to the standard bypasser, the damage internally was horrendous.

Norman’s teeth were a level of rot, infection, and so severely damaged, they were the worst our vet had ever seen. When his lips were moved for exam, several just fell out of his mouth. He had fistulas and abscesses had been festering so long, that they rotted and eroded away a majority of his jaw bone and there was not much left. The infections had spread throughout his nasal cavities, his airways and into his esophagus and lungs. He was treated with courses of antibiotics and had to have every single one of his remaining teeth removed. There was so much decay and damage, that the dog that you see, is probably not the dog he once looked like and it altered his appearance to the extent that his age can not be accurately determined and his jaw bone was more than likely inches wider and he had at one time had a more squared face than a pointed one.

However. What it did NOT do is alter or damage this little man’s extremely sweet and stellar attitude, demeanor and his absolute love of affection and being loved.

We are thankful to his foster family for providing him all of those things that he needed—love, safety, laughter. They saw him through his surgeries, his other vet visits, and they helped him integrate into living in a home with people who cared for him and treated him the way he had always deserved to be. They prepared him for a forever home, they prepared him for the next step in his journey—his forever after.

We are so grateful to his new family for choosing to open their heart and home and adopting this angel in need. Norman has a fantastic mom and a human brother who Norman is determined will be his best friend for all of his days already. He will be the true king of his castle, and will enjoy every day of his fairy “tail” ending.

We wish the three of you every single moment filled with toothless grins and kisses, lots of lap sitting and cuddling and every day filled with nothing but love.

Happiest tails, Norman. You are so very loved!

Nick - Adopted 5/4/2024

Back in December we had an extremely sick female brought to our office. She was covered in bites, infection and was severely emaciated. We rushed her to the vet and started immediate treatment. Sadly, she couldn’t overcome her injuries, and crossed the Bridge later that week. I was gutted. Devastated and I felt helpless that we couldn’t save her. It made me question even continuing if I’m being honest. Her loss took away all of my breath, it took away the sliver of light that I desperately was hanging on to. Her name was Noelle, and for me, she will always be one of the “Ones.” The ones we never forget in a million years. The ones we work harder than we ever have for, we pray harder than we’ve ever prayed, and when it’s not enough, the ones who make us question our own worth, make us question why we continue… but also the ones who make us remember why we do each and every one of those things. The “Ones” are those who make us fight harder, be better, learn more, inspire movements and become stronger people.

I will never doubt that Noelle knew how very much I was struggling, and I don’t doubt that Nick was a gift directly from her. You see, I opened Facebook the day after her passing and saw one of our shelter partners desperately begging for help for this innocent 5 month old boy who had severe demodex and infections covering his face, undercarriage, back and legs. A boy who was in a rural area, with a shelter who didn’t have the capability of caring for him, and I knew that exact moment that she sent him directly to us. For her redemption. For her memory. For someone else to have the chance she could not.

The wheels were set into motion that moment to bring Nick to the Haven to get him the care, medical attention and love he so needed and so deserved.
Code3 Animal Rescue Aviation Team got to work on helping make that happen. Nick arrived in December and spent the next 4 months healing his skin, his infections, his heart. He was treated for heartworm, he finished his vetting, and he blossomed into one of the best boys we’ve ever had the pleasure of having here. He is absolutely an Angel on earth, sent by his guardian Angel, Noelle.

Nick was adopted today, Noelle gave him the chance at his happily ever after, and we know she is so proud of him.

We are so thankful to his wonderful new mom who has already prepared her home for him, set up a trainer to help him adjust to a brand new life, and who was willing to open her heart and home to adopting this Angel. Nick not only has an amazing mom, he has a doggo sister who has been missing canine companionship and is ready to welcome him in with open paws.

We wish you three every ounce of joy, happiness and love that this life can bring you.

And to Nick—happiest tails, sweet boy. Thank you for letting us love you, and thank you for helping to heal my heart.

Lilo - Adopted 5/3/2024

Lilo and her 14 siblings were hospitalized in critical care after contracting parvo. Though they all fought hard, only 6 of the 15 were able to overcome this highly fatal and highly contagious virus. They then made it to their foster homes and began to learn what life is supposed to be like.

We are so thankful to her foster home for providing her the space, comfort and security she needed while she learned how to play, started learning some basic manners, and began to learn how to be loved and show love. She had a full foster house with kids, cats and other dogs so we knew she would thrive in just about any home!

We are also so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their hearts and home to adopting another angel in need. Lilo has wonderful parents who will love and spoil her, a doggo sibling who is ready to teach her the ropes, and three human boys of her very own.

We wish all of you so much joy and love that your hearts can’t stand it.

Baylor - Adopted 4/28/2024

Baylor arrived at the Haven in the beginning of March, transferred from another rescue who hadn’t had anyone show interest in her. She was originally found as a stray with a shock collar embedded into her neck and she had pretty severe infections. They treated her neck wounds and got them closed up and she waited. She traveled to the Haven, got her vaccines updated and got her canine influenza all finished up, and she was ready to go to her new home.

She’s been the very best girl in her foster home, we found her a family who was ready to welcome her with open arms, and then two weeks ago she threw up a toy, one that had been in there quite a while, and we took her in for X-rays. She had obstruction surgery in State College and spent the last two weeks healing up so she could finally go to her forever family.

Today, she got to finally go home!

We are so thankful to her foster home for providing her the comfort, safety and care she needed since she’s arrived and then after her surgery. We are so very grateful to our fosters who love these dogs as their very own and ensure they are ready for their next steps.

We are also so very grateful to her new family, for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting another Angel in need. They previously had adopted from us a few years ago, and their boy Mudge unfortunately developed cancer and crossed the bridge earlier this year. He was a very loved boy, and while their hearts miss him terribly, they have room in their hearts for another Angel, and they know Mudge would be tickled they are giving another just as much love and devotion as he had.

Baylor has a fantastic mom and dad, a fur brother doggo, some kitty siblings and two hooman sisters of her very own to grow with and enjoy each and every day with.

We wish all of you the absolute most joy that this life can bring you for all of your days.

Happiest tails, sweetest girl. You are so very loved!

Twyla - Adopted 4/25/2024

Twyla and her siblings had been abandoned in a shed without food or water and without human interaction. PSP contacted us and asked if we could assist and Kelli & Nicole drove out to the property, made their way through a shed of filth, dirt and rusty tools, and worked on getting the pups out and checked over. Nicole and Kelli cleaned them up, cut their nails, started them on dewormer and did initial intakes and assessments, and thankfully we had some wonderful foster homes step up on extremely short notice and offer to open their doors to these babies and help get them healthy and social, the way puppies need to be.

Twyla had an amazing foster mom who has done a beautiful job helping this gal out of her shell, and getting her healthy. She also had a human foster sister to help her get socialized with kids. They taught her basic commands and worked on her house and crate training and we are forever grateful for their help.

We are so very thankful as well to her new family, for choosing to open their hearts and home and adopting this beautiful Angel in need. Twyla has a great mom and dad, two doggo brothers and some human kiddos to grow with and have adventures with, and whom she also already seems to adore. We wish all of you the absolute best life together filled with joy, laughter and so much love.

Dory - Adopted 4/20/2024

Dory is one of the Disney underdog princes and princesses and today she found her happily ever after.

Dory and her 14 siblings were hospitalized in critical care after contracting parvo. Though they all fought hard, only 6 of the 15 were able to overcome this highly fatal and highly contagious virus. She and the other 5 spent two weeks in the hospital before they tested negative and were well enough to be released. They then made it to their foster homes and began to learn what life is supposed to be like.

We are so thankful to her foster home for providing him the space, comfort and security he needed while he learned how to play, started learning some basic manners and commands, and began to learn how to be loved and show love.

We are also so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their hearts and home to adopting this angel in need. Dory has a great mom and dad, two human siblings and a doggo brother who will keep teaching her the ropes to a successful and happy life.

We wish all of you so much joy and love that your hearts can’t stand it.

Happiest tails beautiful girl. You are so very loved!

Stevie - Adopted 4/20/2024

Stevie and her siblings had been abandoned in a shed without food or water and without human interaction.

Stevie had an amazing foster home who has done a beautiful job helping this gal out of her shell, getting her socialized and getting her healthy. They taught her a great foundation for basic skills and worked on crate and house training, and for that we are forever grateful to her foster family.

We are so very thankful as well to her new family, for choosing to open their hearts and home and adopting this beautiful Angel in need. Stevie has a great mom and dad, two doggo brothers and three rambunctious human brothers to grow with and have adventures with, and whom she also already seems to adore. We wish all of you the absolute best life together filled with joy, laughter and so much love.

Happiest tails, sweet girl. You are so loved!

Milo - Adopted 4/20/2024

Milo was found as a pup with two siblings, wrapped in insulation and shoved under a trailer. Thankfully someone found them and started their vet care and then asked us to help with this baby.

Milo went to foster care, and learned all the things a puppy should learn and then was adopted. Unfortunately, his first adopter had to return to work in office for very long hours and didn’t feel it was fair to leave Milo alone for so many hours a day.

Milo returned to his original foster, whom we are so thankful for, and picked up where he left off and showed us he was still the fun loving boy we knew. He settled in and awaited his true forever.

Today he got to go home. Milo has a wonderful new mom and dad, and a doggo sister to spend his days romping and enjoying life with.

We wish all of you every day filled with laughter, love and all the joy you can handle.

Happy tails, sweetest boy! You are so very loved!

Stitch - Adopted 4/19/2024

Stitch is the first of the Disney underdog princes and princesses to find his happily ever after.

Stitch and his 14 siblings were hospitalized in critical care after contracting parvo. Though they all fought hard, only 6 of the 15 were able to overcome this highly fatal and highly contagious virus. He and the other 5 spent two weeks in the hospital before they tested negative and were well enough to be released. We are so thankful to his foster home for providing him the space, comfort and security he needed while he learned how to play, started learning some basic manners, and began to learn how to be loved and show love.

We are also so grateful to his new mom for choosing to open her heart and home to adopting this angel in need. Stitch has a great mom who has a very kind heart and a doggo sister who will keep teaching him the ropes to a successful and happy life.

We wish all of you so much joy and love that your hearts can’t stand it.

Happiest tails handsome boy. You are so very loved!

Moira - Adopted 4/16/2024

Moira and her siblings had been abandoned in a shed without food or water and without human interaction.

Moira had an amazing foster home who has done a beautiful job helping this gal out of her shell, getting her socialized and getting her healthy. They taught her how to sit, and lie down and they worked on crate and house training. Moira has come so far from where she began and we are forever grateful to her foster family.

We are so very thankful as well to her new family, for choosing to open their hearts and home and adopting this beautiful Angel in need. Moira has a wonderful mom and dad and several doggo brothers and sisters to learn from and enjoy her days with. We wish all of you the absolute best life together filled with joy, laughter and so much love.

Happiest tails, sweet girl. You are so loved!

Costello - Adopted 4/14/2024

Costello joined us on Jan 2, as a part of the dogs removed from a Bedford home that was neglecting their needs, causing extreme physical abuse by not addressing veterinary ailments, allowing them to live in their own waste, and watching as their hair matted from filth, their infections got worse, their bodies started to shut down.

Costello had a severe eye ulceration, the white of his belly and paws, stained yellow and brown from urine and feces, his genitalia swollen and burned from urine, his spirit broken, but open to love.

Costello had weeks of treatments on his eyes, he had many baths to try to remove the urine burns and stains. He had weeks of working on his confidence. He received several sets of vaccines. He was neutered. He began trusting, he began showing off his goofy, silly personality, he began enjoying every day, he began to live. His foster home did an excellent job of working on his confidence, trust and providing him with safety, security and above all, love. But, as much as he’s progressed at trusting people—the thing that brings him the most joy, the most confidence and the most meaning out of life—is other dogs. He learns from them, he watches them, he adores them and he lives his life befriending all he can. We are so thankful to his foster family for allowing him the chance to grow, to live and to flourish.

We are so thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this angel in need. Costello has an amazing mom who also helps out other animals who need rescued from time to time, he has a great dad, some adult human siblings, and best of all… he has three of his very own doggo sisters to spend his days in awe of, playing with, and continuing to grow with. We wish Costello and his new family each and every day filled with the biggest blessings, the most happiness and joy, and endless laughter and love.

Happy tails, handsome man. You are so very loved!

Tad - Adopted 4/13/2024

Tad was at risk for euthanasia at the shelter in August of last year. He was having some pretty severe kennel stress—and if you don’t know what kennel stress is, it is when dogs start to shut down, start to have extreme anxiety, start to basically go crazy—because they live their lives in a small concrete block every day just starting at cement and wire. This is not the fault of shelters. They do the very best they can. They take the dogs for walks, they do enrichment activities, they offer puzzles, they have playgroups…. But they can’t give every single dog the one on one time and attention they deserve… and sometimes that they need. Some dogs just can not handle shelter life. And that’s understandable. Because we truly wish there wasn’t a need for shelters, for rescues but there are and always will be. Sometimes that means that a dog’s brain deteriorates past the point of being able to be helped. And Tad was well on his way to reaching that point. He was medicated with anxiety meds, and even those failed. So, his shelter director reached out to me and asked if we had space because euthanasia is not taken lightly. That very same day, before I even had a chance to say anything, one of our amazing, dedicated fosters saw him on the list as at risk and reached out to me and said she wanted to give him a chance. We went over the risks… he might be too far damaged from kennel stress to be able to adjust to life outside the shelter, even though he couldn’t handle being there. We didn’t know how he would do with other animals, she has dogs and a cat. We didn’t know how he would react to people and strangers, because he hadn’t been exposed to many. And we discussed the positives. He may adjust fine, he may be a brand new dog, he may love other animals, he may adore people, he may just need a chance. But that chance was up to her and her dedication, and we would stand by her no matter what she decided. And she decided that the reward was worth it, and even if we couldn’t save him and he wasn’t able to adjust, that we and she would give him the very best few weeks he had ever had, and if that was all we could give him, that was more than he would have if she didn’t try.

I was so proud of her in that moment. I would never personally ask one of our fosters to ever make that choice, to take on that risk, but when they are aware of all that can happen and fight for the dogs just as much as I always will…. Well, that is the reason we rescue.

Tad didn’t get a few weeks. He got just shy of 8 months with his foster mom. 8 months of getting him healthy mind and body— heartworm treatment, leg surgery (he had a previously broken leg that had not healed properly), vaccines. 8 months of learning to live in a home and be absolutely loved beyond words and cherished. 8 months of training—learning some manners (he still needs to remember these when he’s excited). 8 months of learning how to play. To be a dog. To be given a chance. 8 months free of anxiety medication.

The reward very much outweighed the risk in Tad’s case. He was just a big ole puppy in a big ole body, who just needed someone to love and to love him. He flourished, he learned, he loved.

8 months of being loved by his foster, who gave him a chance, so that 8 months later he found his forever home. His foster saved his life, we were lucky to be along for and watch the ride.

We are so, so very thankful to his new family. For choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting an angel in need. For giving this boy, his next second chance. For choosing the one who’s been overlooked. The one who’s been waiting. The one who wants nothing more than to just. Be. Loved.

He has a wonderful mom and dad and two human siblings to entertain, to make laugh, possibly to knock down from time to time, and to share his life and his love with. And we could not be more thrilled for Tad, and for his family.

We wish all of you every single day filled with laughter, with adventure, with joy and above all, love. Thank you for choosing our boy.

Happiest tails, handsome. You are so very loved!

Alexis - Adopted 4/13/2024

Alexis and her siblings had been abandoned in a shed without food or water and without human interaction.

Alexis had an amazing foster home who has done a beautiful job helping this gal out of her shell, getting her socialized and getting her healthy. They taught her how to sit, lie down, give paw, to wait, and they worked on crate and house training. Alexis today is nowhere near the Alexis who entered the rescue in early March, and for that we are forever grateful to her foster family.

We are so very thankful as well to her new family, for choosing to open their hearts and home and adopting this beautiful Angel in need. Alexis has an amazing mom and dad whom she’s already attached herself to, and a little human brother to grow with and have adventures with, and whom she also already seems to adore. We wish all of you the absolute best life together filled with joy, laughter and so much love.

Happiest tails, sweet girl. You are so loved!

Avaley - Adopted 4/7/2024

Avaley arrived at the Haven last July. She was very pregnant, heartworm positive, and very timid. We named her Avaley because it means pretty as a bird, and to live and to breathe. She had puppies 3 days after arrival and for a little over two months, she was a very good mom to 6 sweet, rambunctious pups, who we named the Chicklets. They all found homes and then she began her long, taxing heartworm treatment, gaining weight, and working on some pretty significant anxiety.
She made it through with flying colors. In the meantime, she learned manners, she learned commands, and she perfected that sweet pout in hopes of finding her forever. Today, she found them.

We are so thankful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. She is the only princess of the home, will have their undivided attention. She has a great mom and dad, and a human brother to spend her days bonding with. We wish you all every ounce of happiness, joy and love that this life can bring you.

Happy tails, beautiful girl. You are so very, very loved!

Isla - Adopted 4/6/2024

Isla came to us recently as an owner surrender and went to her foster home to begin working on basic commands and starting her vetting. She is an energetic, talkative, young, excitable and affectionate young gal and we quickly fell in love with her. She had a UTI that needed addressed, all of her vaccines started and boosters and needed her spay surgery completed. She started her vaccines (she still has a few to get that we will cover), completed her antibiotic treatment and had her spay earlier this week, so was excited and ready to go to her new home. We are so thankful to her foster for giving her love, compassion, patience and kindness while she had her medical needs address and awaited her family.

We are so thankful to her new mom for choosing to open her home and heart to adopting this Angel in need. Isla has a kind, wonderful mom, a Doggo sister to romp around with, and some doggo “nieces” to meet and enjoy life with. We wish you all the best that life can bring you every single day.

Happiest tails sweet girl! You are so loved!

Petey - Adopted 4/6/2024

Petey originally came to us after being found as a stray by one of our shelter partners and we quickly learned he was a sweet, energetic but heartworm positive guy. He underwent heartworm treatment and learned a great deal from his foster mom and was then adopted. Unfortunately the other dog in Petey’s adoptive home was not a fan of sharing his space, so Petey came back into foster care and awaited his true forever family.

We are so thankful to his foster moms for providing him a s safe space to heal, to learn, to prepare for a home and to give him a foundation of love to grow and blossom in. Without our foster homes, we could not help as many dogs as we are able.

We are so thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. He has an amazing mom and dad, and two girls to call his own. Petey will be the only dog in his home and will rule the roost and have all the adventure he could ever dream of. We wish all of you each day filled with laughter, love and so much joy.

Happiest tails, handsome! You are so very loved!

Oliver - Adopted 4/2/2024

Oliver joined the haven a little into February, and went into his foster home to continue working on his basic obedience skills, finish up his vetting, and to prepare to transition to his forever home. His foster family did an excellent job showing this boy compassion, kindness and love and we are forever grateful to them for giving him the safety and security of a home to wait and prepare for his final stop. He worked on his socialization and his timidness and he blossomed into such an amazing boy!

Despite our earlier April Fools post, we go through great lengths to ensure that each of our dogs goes to the home that is the one that is the very best suited for their needs, preferences and temperaments. Oliver had a ton of applications and we ended up closing them. All were great homes, but unfortunately not exactly what he needed at this time, so we then accepted a few more applications. This time, we found the perfect family who checked off each of his boxes he asked for. You see, we don’t require things because of our preferences, we require things because of the dog’s needs and preferences. Not every dog requires a fence, not every dog requires older children, not every dog requires other dogs, or no other animals…. But some do. And we will always choose the home that is best for them and their needs. Even if we have to keep looking.

We are so thankful to his new family for choosing to open their hearts and home and adopting this Angel in need. Oliver has a wonderful mom and two human boys to now call his own. He has some grandparents who live right down the road who can check in on him and dog sit him when he needs. He has large windows to look out of and watch the world whenever he wants (something he loves to do). And best of all, he has a family who already loves him and are so thrilled to welcome him to their lives.

We wish all of you every day filled with laughter, love and more joy than you can dream.

Happiest tails, handsome man. You are so very loved!

Tootsie- Adopted 3/30/2024

Tootsie originally came as part of 7 toy poodles from a breeder. They all had a lot of work to do on socialization and house training, and learning how to be dogs in general. Tootsie was adopted and unfortunately came back due to her fear and distrust of men. She then went on a weeklong adventure, apparently trying to “find herself,” while we frantically tried to find her for real. Thankfully, she was found and was no worse for the wear, albeit covered in ticks, but otherwise unharmed. She returned to her foster and settled in to wait for her forever.

We are so thankful to her foster family for taking this girl in and giving her safety and love, for doing everything possible to help find her during her self reflection journey, and for caring for her during a tough transition while she settled.

We are so grateful to her new mom for choosing to open her home and heart and adopting this Angel in need. Tootsie will take some time and decompression to fully open up, but we know that she has found the perfect person to give her all she could ever want or need. Tootsie is the only doggo queen of her domain, with a mom dedicated to loving her until the end of time. She has a kitty sibling to spend her time with and to enjoy each day of the rest of her life.

We wish all of you the very best that life can bring you in every capacity.

Happy tails, sweet girl. You are so loved!

Scout - Adopted 3/20/2024

Scout joined the haven not terribly long ago. She was extremely well taken care of, trained and kept up on grooming and her vetting by her previous dad. Unfortunately he developed severe allergies to Scout and tried for over a year with medical intervention at some of the top clinics in the country alleviate his symptoms so he could keep her. Even going to such lengths though, sadly his health didn’t improve. He reached out and asked if we could help. When I picked her up, my heart broke for him and for her. He was tearful and she very much loved him. Ultimately, he just wanted her to find a family who could love her just as much as he has.

We are so thankful to her foster for providing her a place to ease into transition while also showing her love, comfort and kindness. They helped her enjoy her time at the haven while she started her CIV vaccines and had some bloodwork done. Foster homes help each dog get ready for their forever family, while loving them as their own.

We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Scout now has a wonderful mom and dad to adore, and two human sisters to grow up with and become best friends with. And we have no doubt that’s exactly what she will do. She truly is an amazing girl. We wish all five of you every day filled with love and laughter.

Happiest tails, beautiful girl! You are so very loved!

Maverick - Adopted 3/16/2024

Maverick came to us a month ago and everyone very quickly fell in love with this handsome fella. He is an amazing pup who loves to herd his foster families chickens, snuggle up with other dogs and kiddos and has equal parts zoomies and calm. He’s truly been perfection.

We are so thankful to his foster family for giving him safety and love, for working with him on integrating him to new situations and for allowing him space in their home until he awaited his forever to find him. Our fosters are true blessings and without them we are unable to help the majority of dogs in our care.

We are so grateful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Maverick has a wonderful mom and dad who fell in love at first sight and again at first meet. He has a human brother whom we know he will wriggle his heart right into. He also will have Doggo friends and neighbors to play with all the time, and even a neighbor who has offered to let him herd his chickens from time to time if the need strikes. We couldn’t have asked for a better life for him. We wish all of you the very best that this life can bring you.

Happiest tails, sweet boy! You are so very loved!

Garth - Adopted 3/11/2024

Garth is one of the Bedford dogs and was one we took because he was the most fear reactive, growly and snarly of the bunch. We wanted to make sure that he was in a home environment to minimize his stress and so that he could be placed in a home that would be patient enough and understanding enough of his needs so that he didn’t feel the need to ever bite anyone—because he absolutely would if he feels uncomfortable or threatened.

We are so thankful to his foster family for providing him exactly what he needed in terms of structure, patience, grace and calmness so that he could adjust and become the best little gremlin he could ever be. And he has. He has finished all of his vetting, and thanks to his foster, was ready for a new beginning!

We are so grateful to his new family for choosing to adopt this angel in need. They spent several visits over several weeks allowing him to come to their home to get comfortable in a new environment before he made a full transition…. And soon enough, he acted like he owned the place. He has a wonderful mom and dad who love him very much, and a doggo sibling too! We could not be happier for all of you and wish you every good thing life can bring your way!

Happy tails sweet Garth! We love you so much!

Abbott - Adopted 3/8/2024

Abbott was another of the Bedford dogs. His eyes were so severely infected, he couldn’t see properly, and he couldn’t even make tears and lubricate his eyes. He had a mass on his back. His teeth were terrible. And his fur, well his fur was so matted that there was a clump the size of a softball on the end of his tail that caused a deep infection on his tail that we weren’t even sure would stay healed.

Amanda and her team at D'tails Professional Dog & Cat Salon & Resort did the best job at getting his fur and skin all cleaned up, and our team at Veterinary Medical Center got to work on healing the rest. They removed his mass and had it biopsied, they medicated his body and his eyes, they tested and retested. They worked hard to give him the best possible chance at becoming healthy, and he took every one of them.

We are so thankful to his foster family for providing him with the safety, security, comfort and love that he so desperately needed during his healing. They made sure he got his meds, worked to help him gain weight, helped him with his confidence and clumsiness, loved him as their own. Without a foster home to heal in, this boy wouldn’t have gotten to where he is today. Loved and healthy.

There was a chance his eyes wouldn’t heal, he would be completely vision impaired and he would never make tears. He overcame.

There was a chance his tail would need amputated. He overcame.

There was a chance he had cancer. He overcame.

A boy who had a life no dog should, he overcame and he persevered. He thrived. He defeated his past.

We are also so very thankful to his new mom, for choosing to open her home and heart to adopting this angel in need. Abbott has an amazing mom who is prepared to give him everything he could dream of. He has a doggo sister to play with, to bond with, and to love and grow with. He has a brand new life and we could not be more thankful and happy for them, for him.

We wish the three of you every single good thing this life can bring you.

Happiest tails handsome boy, you are so very loved!

Frost - Adopted 3/8/2024

Frost is one of the remaining Bedford dogs. He was covered in urine stains, afraid to leave his crate, had a little weight to gain, a little teeth work needed, and a whole lot of trust to form. He was terrified to step foot into the world for awhile, unsure of what it would bring.

With the help of his wonderful foster home, he began taking baby steps and learning that the outside world really isn’t so bad and can be an amazing place. He got all cleaned up with baths each week, he had his vaccines started and boostered, he had his bloodwork done and he had his surgery. And along the way, this terrified sweet soul has blossomed into a curious, sometimes nosy, little love bug who wags his tail in delight and relishes in some basic human affection. His foster did a truly amazing job helping him heal his body and heart, and showing him what life should’ve always been like. We are forever thankful.

We are also so very grateful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this angel in need. He has an excellent mom and dad who have already gone above and beyond to ensure they are the best home they can be for this boy, and give him every single thing he could ever need or want. He is already so cherished by his mom and dad. Frost is a dog who will need a fenced in yard due to his skittishness, speed and exploratory skills, and even though they didn’t have a fence, his dad said no problem and got to work on getting one. We have no doubts this boy is in the best hands possible, and he even now has a kitty sibling to boot. We wish you all so much health, happiness and fulfillment.

Happy tails sweet boy, you are so very loved!

Jimmy - Adopted 3/7/2024

Jimmy is also one of the Bedford dogs. This sweet boy had absolutely horrible dental issues, was missing around 75% of his hair, had deep eye ulcerations, infections covering his head and body, and was in very rough shape. But with the help of his awesome foster home, he was ready for the next step in his journey.

We are so very thankful to his foster for providing him with the safety, security, love and care this boy needed to begin to heal, begin to thrive and begin to live. He was on multiple antibiotics, had two surgeries, and had a lot of medicated spa days. Slowly but surely, his body caught up to his heart in terms of healing. His eyes are healed, his skin is healed, his teeth are healthy and clean, he now has luxurious hair, and is a boy who knows what he wants. We can never express our gratitude to his foster family for being exactly what he needed until he found his way.

We are so thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. He has a wonderful new mom and dad who are no strangers to rescue dogs and have fostered quite a few themselves. He will be the king of his domain and has a beautifully fenced in yard so he can roam around and live his life to the fullest. He will get all the attention and love he could ever need. We wish you all the absolute most love and joy you can dream of.

Happy tails, handsome boy. You are so very loved!

Dexter - Adopted 3/7/2024

Dexter is one of the Bedford dogs. He had severe ear infections, missing hair on his body, skin infections and sores, urine stains and was much too skinny.

He went into a wonderful foster home where he learned to be part of a family. He was taken to his vet appointments, fed properly and with appropriate food, he took his medications…. And he healed. His skin healed. His sores healed. His ears healed. He gained weight. His heart healed. He learned to be loved, he learned to love. He got all his vaccines, his bloodwork, his surgeries. He learned to enjoy affection and snuggles. He learned to utilize that nose the way he always wanted. He learned how to be a dog. Because a foster home was kind and loving enough to open their doors. We can not express our gratitude for how thankful we are to them. For caring for him, for loving him, and for letting him find the home best suited for him.

We are also so very thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this Angel in need. Dexter now has an amazing mom and dad who have had beagles their entire lives and are so happy to be adding him to their home. He has a large yard to explore, he has extended family who will give him attention and affection, and he has everything he could ever dream of. We wish you three a very long, happy and love filled life together, with the best sniffs, the best exploring and the best laughter life can bring you.

Happy tails sweet boy, you are so very loved!

Peach - Adopted 3/2/2024

Peach was one of the Bedford dogs. We did not choose her because of her medical needs, because she was grossly matted, or because she was one of the most severe. We chose her because she was the most terrified, the most shutdown, the one who would need the most patience, understanding, calm and quiet. She didn’t want anyone to even attempt taking her out of that kennel that first day. So I crawled inside it with her and talked softly to her for a bit, letting her know she was safe, that we would help, that she would never again have to be so scared.

Peach went into her foster home, for whom we are so, so extremely thankful for, and they gave her just what she needed. Her own space. Her own timeline. Decompression. Patience. Understanding. And most of all, love. They took her to her appointments where she had a few teeth removed, all of them cleaned, her vaccines, her bloodwork, her urinalysis. And with each vet visit, she got just a little more comfortable. With each passing day, she opened up a little bit more. And then she showed some of her sweet, silly, and very zoomy personality. We knew she would need a special home who could also offer those same things, but without her foster home, the one best suited for her needs, she may have never found out just how to become herself.

We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this beautiful Angel in need. She has a wonderful mom and dad who are over the moon to welcome her into their family. We have ensured they are aware of all of her needs, that they have the understanding of who she needs them to be until she becomes who she will be. And she will be the most important and only princess of her castle. We could not be happier for her. She still has her spay surgery and her last vaccine scheduled in a few weeks, so you’ll see her once more when that happens, but for now sweet Peach, have the happiest life. Zoomie to your hearts content. Love and be loved. And most of all, know that you are and forever will be safe.

Happy tails beautiful girl. You are so very loved

Lemmy - Adopted 3/1/2024

Lemmy was one of the Bedford dogs. He had mats, skin infections, and was covered in so much lice you could see them crawling on his head. He tested positive for Lyme disease and he is extremely timid and shy. However, not today.

We are so very grateful to his foster family for providing him the comfort, safety and love of what a home is supposed to be. For taking him to his vet visits so we could get his lice treated, vaccines, surgery and his Lyme disease treated. For allowing him to feel the true meaning of family, the true meaning of being an Angel and for allowing him the grace to grow, to decompress and to flourish.

We are so thankful to his new family. He has an amazing mom who will be taking him to work with her once he has adjusted and settled in. He has an older human brother who he seemed to immediately take to—which surprised us a bit because he’s been very timid of other men. And he will be the number one, top dawg at his new home. He will rule the roost, be loved, be adored and be happy. And we couldn’t be more thrilled for the three of them.

We wish you all the very best life filled with laughter, adventure and so much love you don’t know what to do with.

Happy tails sweet, handsome boy. You are so very loved!

Mora - Adopted 3/1/2024

Mora was previously an Angel with us and was adopted after her litter of beautiful babies found their own happily ever afters. At the beginning of this year, we were contacted and she unfortunately needed to come back to foster care.

We are so very grateful to her foster for opening her doors to this beautiful girl who needed some affection and a place to land and adjust while she awaited her forever. Mora quickly showed she was still the same loveable gal we always knew, got updated vaccines and a 4DX test and she was ready to say peace out I’m goin home!

We are so very thankful to her new forever dad for opening his home and heart and adopting this Angel in need. She will get all the love and affection and attention she can handle as the only queen of the castle. She will spend all of her time being cherished and doted upon with no one else to compete with. And we couldn’t be happier for either of them. We wish you both every ounce of joy and love that this life can bring you.

Happiest tails sweet girl. You are so very loved!

Bowser - Adopted 2/28/2024

Bowser was one of the Bedford dogs. He was almost immobile. He was emaciated. He couldn’t stand up straight, his body hunched when he tried. He had sores, mats and was fearful of everything…. But extremely sweet. Some thought he was older, because of his stature and state of his teeth…. But just one look at this boy and I knew he was young, not more than two, and he had a road that no young pup (or any dog) should ever have to travel. Bowser is estimated to only be around a year old, maybe a little older but not much.

Bowser went into his foster home and had a long road ahead. He needed to gain weight, but needed to do it slowly, controlled, on a schedule and safely so that his body didn’t shut down. He needed to learn how to love and accept love. He needed his inside healed just as much as his outside needed healed. His foster family did an outstanding job with both, and we are so so very grateful to them. To date, Bowser has gained around 12 lbs. He has approximately ten to go. His skin has healed. His sores have healed. He is now able to walk, to jump, to run. He finds joy in simple things most take for granted—having a friend, having a toy, having his own blanket in his own crate…. And simply waking up each morning with someone to love him. He is still timid in new situations but his growth has been phenomenal. And he’ll only continue to progress.

Bowser has his forever now. And we are so thankful they have chosen to open their home and hearts to adopting this Angel in need. He has an absolutely wonderful mom and dad who will do everything he could need to ensure his safety, health and happiness. Bowser now has two furdog siblings to continue to be his support, to teach him the ways of life, and to help him thrive. Bowser needed the comfort of another dog in a new home for his confidence, and he not only gained those two, but also a kitty sibling to keep him on those toe beans.

We are simply thrilled for all of you and wish you the absolute most love and joy that this life can bring you.

Happiest tails, sweet boy. You are so very loved!

Monty - Adopted 2/23/2024

Monty is one of the Bedford dogs who was so matted that his entire back end and rectum area was full of infection. He was shaved and then started medication and went to his foster home where he received so much love, so much care, and so much patience… he couldn’t have asked for a better stepping stone to transition to his forever. We are truly so very thankful to his foster for all the time and effort put forth into making sure he made his appointments, followed his medicine schedules, and making sure he was learning how to be a real dog. Without a foster, he could not have come so very far.

Monty took a little bit to open up, but once he did, he showed he’s a young little guy who is just filled with sass and energy, spunk and isn’t afraid to stand his ground. He is a sweet boy, who is going to thrive in his forever home.

We are so grateful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting this angel in need. He has two human siblings, a wonderful mom who will be home almost all the time with him to help him become successful at completing his house training, a wonderful dad, and a doggo sister to continue showing him how to properly be a dog and teach him the ways of the world that he’s not yet learned.

We wish all of you the absolute best and most wonderful life together.

Happiest tails, little one. You are so very loved!

Lucia - Adopted 2/23/2024

Lucia was on the euthanasia list at the dog wardens office and they put out a desperate plea for help. She was one of several dogs used as breeder dogs and treated not so nicely. The others found rescue placement, Lucia did not. We had a foster willing to open their home to her to save her life—so we went and got her. She’s been extremely shy and nervous in new situations and it took her weeks to accept affection and months to start playing with new things and continue to show her personality.

Today, she got her forever.

We are so very thankful to her foster home for being the exact home she needed to learn to trust, to learn to love and be loved, and to receive the vetting and care she deserved. They love her deeply, and will miss her terribly, but ultimately know that if they can’t let their fosters find homes, they can not help save the lives of more. Our gratitude for that gift can not be measured.

We are so thankful to her new home for opening their home and hearts and adopting this beautiful Angel in need. She will likely regress a little, and will need time and space to come into her home but has all the tools she will need to flourish. She has a wonderful mom and dad and a fursister who can’t wait to be friends.

We wish all of you more happiness and love than your hearts can handle.

Happiest tails, beautiful girl. You are so very loved!

Goliath- Adopted 2/21/2024

Goliath is one of the two Bernese Mountain Dogs we took in from the Bedford case, and he has absolutely lived up to his name. There was no obstacle he found insurmountable—including climbing on top of the washing machine, no toy he couldn’t beat—including a ring camera, from which we got amazing inside coverage of his mouth, and no challenge he couldn’t match—like perfectly imitating the fire siren.

This boy is basically an 8 week old pup in a massively large body, and we could not have asked for a better foster for him to tackle his challenges and get him started on the right path to his forever life. He had three separate ear surgeries, multiple, multiple vet visits, and tried to leave as much destruction in his path as possible if he wasn’t being loved on every moment of the day. We are so extremely grateful to his foster mom for keeping him safe, for seeing him through all of his vetting, for rising to each of his challenges and for loving him so fiercely.

We are so very thankful to his new mom, for choosing to open her heart and home and adopting this Angel in need. She has been thoroughly prepared for everything he may choose to bring her way, and is excitedly up for the challenge. And we couldn’t be more thrilled for the both of them. He is the sweetest boy, who loves with his whole being and his mom will soon be retiring and will be able to spend each and every single moment with the new love of her life, and he will have her all to himself, which has been his biggest dream. He even has pup sitters lined up for miles for when she has to work for now, until they they can ride off into the sunset, paw in hand.

We truly wish the both of you a life filled with adventure, laughter, joy and every ounce of love and happiness you deserve.

Happiest tails, Goliath. You are so very loved sweet boy!

Boo- Adopted 2/19/2024

Boo is one of the Bedford dogs. He had horribly bad skin infections, some of the most awful dental issues, eye ulcerations and cataracts, and was missing almost all of his hair. He went into his foster home and worked on healing… physically and mentally. And he has rallied spectacularly.

We are so thankful to his foster family for giving him the safest, comfiest space possible to rest, recover and learn to be loved properly. They did a wonderful job healing his heart and soul as well as his outer being. His infections are all cleared (he just needs a bit more hair to grow back) and his ulcerations are cleared, though he still has some permanent vision loss, and his teeth have all been removed but one. He feels so much better, in every way, and it is largely in part because a foster home took him in. The rest is because of our amazing veterinary team, and all of you. For your support and kindness. We are forever grateful.

We are also blessed and thankful to his new mom. He will be the king of the house and doted upon like no other. He will spend all of his days being adored and loved. Given every ounce of attention and care his little soul could ever want and need. We wish nothing but the absolute best for you both.

Happiest tails, handsome boy. You are so very loved!

Mario- Adopted 2/16/2024

Mario was one of the Bedford dogs and was friendly from the beginning, but wasn’t sure how to really “dog.” He settled into his foster, whom we are so very thankful to for providing him a safe place to crash while he adjusted and got his vetting! He started opening up and exploring and finding out what dog life is about. He began his vaccines, had his teeth checked, had his neuter surgery, and has a few appts left but he is well on his way to being the dog he was meant to be. He is a busy body who loves to explore the world.

We are so grateful to his new dad for choosing to open his home and heart and adopting an Angel in need. Mario joins a fursister, a princess Chihuahua, and will be more than happy to keep her busy and be her best bud for the rest of his days. We wish the three of you all the happiness, love and joy that this life can bring you.

Happy tails, little man. You are so loved!

Yoshi- Adopted 2/10/2024

Yoshi is another who came from the hoarding situation and has spent the last almost 6 weeks getting his vet care taken care of, learning how to live in a proper home filled with love, safety and people who care, and showing us his personality so we knew just the type of family he would need.

We are so grateful to his foster family for providing these things to him while giving him the patience he needed, the decompression he required and the love he deserved while we took care of his physical needs. Yoshi has just a bit more vetting, but will finish his care at our vet, while he settles in at his forever home.

We are so thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting an Angel in need. Yoshi has a wonderful mom and a human sister who already love him so very much. He has some fur siblings at home who will help him build confidence and trust with his new family in the weeks to come. He will be treated like the precious soul he should always have been.

Happiest tails, sweet, handsome Yoshi. You are so, so very loved.

Toad - Adopted 2/10/2024

Toad came from the hoarding situation and has spent the last almost 6 weeks getting his vet care taken care of, learning how to live in a proper home filled with love, safety and people who care, and showing us his personality so we knew just the type of family he would need.

We are so grateful to his foster family for providing these things to him while giving him the patience he needed, the decompression he required and the love he deserved while we took care of his physical needs. We honestly are more grateful to our fosters than we can ever convey.

We are so thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting an Angel in need. Toad has a wonderful mom and dad who will dote on him and cherish every moment with him, and who will ensure he will never again know anything less than he deserves.

Happiest tails, sweet little Toad . You are so, so very loved.

Kringle - Adopted 1/27/2024

Kringle arrived the day after Christmas. He had been found tied to a fence with electrical cable at around 8 weeks old. Thankfully, some good samaritans found him, got him to the vet and then reached out for help.

We are so thankful to Kringle’s foster family for providing him the safety and comfort of a loving home while he received continued vet care, learned how to be a dog, and awaited his forever home.

We are so grateful to his forever family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adopting an Angel in need. Kringle has two awesome parents who couldn’t wait to welcome him, two human brothers who are over the moon excited to love him, and a fur sister who he met and hit it off with right away.

We wish all of you the absolute most joy, laughter and love that life can bring your way.

Happy tails, sweet boy! You are so loved!

Kobe - Adopted 1/20/2024

Kobe joined us mid-December as an owner surrender due to owner health issues. He had been on two different anxiety meds when he arrived and after settling into his foster home, we weaned him to one and have full confidence once he settles into his forever he can be weaned off completely.

We are so thankful to his foster family for giving him the space, time, love and care he needed while he finished up his vetting and testing and awaiting his new family to find him.

We are so grateful to his new mom for choosing to open her home and heart to adopting an Angel in need. Kobe has an amazing mom, some human siblings and a doggo brother named Finn whom he absolutely adores. Kobe’s new family recently lost two of their dogs in a short amount of time, and their hearts and Finn’s heart were devastated and grieving. We know a new dog never replaces the love, memories and presence of those lost, but we also know that a new dog can absolutely help heal the devastation and help start to repair some of the holes left behind.

Kobe will now spend each day living on a huge farm where he can play, romp and live his life to the fullest. We wish all of you every ounce of laughter and love that this life can bring you.

Happiest tails, handsome boy! You are so very loved!

Lona - Adopted 1/19/2024

Lona came to us after being taken out of a bad situation by a Good Samaritan who reached out for help. She is 3 years old and has already birthed five litters of pups.

Her foster home stepped up, took her in, gave her love and patience and we took care of making sure all of her vetting was completed and that she’ll never again be subjected to being a baby maker. We’re so grateful that her foster home let her have space in their home, and in their hearts, so that she could find her forever.

We’re so thankful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts to adopting an Angel in need. Lona is their second “Angel” and she joins Emily from our Gilmore girl trio who was adopted last year. We know Lona will have a blast with her new sister, and that her parents will dote on her every day until forever.

Happiest tails, beautiful girl! You are so very loved!

King - Adopted 1/17/2024

King arrived in November after being a shelter office dog for awhile. He went into his foster home where he proved to be great with cats and had already shown he was a fan of other dogs. His foster worked hard to let him know how to adapt to life in a home and the comforts of a couch and a warm place to be loved. We are always so so grateful to each and every one of our fosters for opening their homes to help us save lives, to do a lot of the work helping them adjust and get ready for their new lives, and for always doing the hardest job, loving them enough to let them go to their forevers so that another dog can have the same opportunity at a happily ever after.

We are so thankful to King’s new mom for choosing to open her home and heart to adopting an Angel and need, and to his new dad! King can be shy of men, but was instant best friends with his mom’s boyfriend during their initial meet and didn’t take long to seal the deal and win both of their hearts.

We wish all of you the absolute very best of everything life can bring your way.

Happiest tails handsome man, you are so loved!

Delaney - Adopted 1/15/2024

Little Delaney came to us at the beginning of November as part of a rescue from a breeding farm that’s no longer in business. She had lived her whole 3-4 years of life in a barn. Never had grooming, never had vet care, just a life filled with providing puppies to be sold. She has luxating patellas so should’ve never been bred to begin with. But poor breeders don’t care about the health issues they’re placing on these dogs and bringing into the world.

She went into her foster home where she and they worked very hard to learn love and trust; to learn how to live in a home, to be a part of a family. She went to the vet. She went to the groomer. And she has truly opened up into the sweetest little munchkin. We are so thankful to her foster home for giving her the time and love she needed.

She will soon have her spay surgery, and then receive a much needed dental. But today, today she got to go to her forever.

We are so grateful to her forever mom for choosing to open her home and heart to adopting an Angel in need. Her mom lost her sweet little Lilly dog not too terribly long ago and didn’t know if she could open her heart again, but we and Delaney are so thankful that she has. We know that they will love each other so very much and soon enough, will be inseparable. We know that Delaney will have the absolute best life and will have everything she could ever dream of. And we can’t thank her mom enough. We wish you both the absolute most love and joy this life can offer.

Happiest tails sweet baby, you are so loved! ❤️

Nigel - Adopted 1/8/2024

Nigel arrived at the Haven extremely underweight and honestly pretty sick. His bloodwork showed pretty significant anemia and some other abnormalities.

He was started on a refeed program, worked on some basic manners, and very slowly began his journey towards health. It took three full months to get him up to a weight he should be. When he arrived, he weighed 25 lbs. today, he weighs 47.

We are so thankful to his foster family for providing him the structure and time he needed to get healthy, the love he needed to become a dog we knew waited inside, and the patience for him to learn all he needed to learn to be ready for his forever.

We are so grateful to his new mom for choosing to open her home and heart and adopting a family in need. Nigel has her almost all to himself, but does share a kitty sibling who isn’t afraid to keep him in line if needed. We know he’s going to have an amazing life with his amazing person, and we wish them every joy that this life can bring them.

Happiest tails sweet boy, you are so very loved!

Ziggy - Adopted 1/6/2024

Ziggy put on his jacket, braved the cold weather and inches of snow and headed into our office today to adopt himself a family. He wasn’t letting anything get in his way.

Ziggy is the sweetest, friendliest big lug and we are so thankful to his foster family for giving him the opportunity to be loved, safe and cared for while we learned about his preferences, needs and he finished up all of his vet care. Without fosters, dogs like Ziggy and so many others don’t get the chance to find their forever homes.

We are so grateful to his new family for choosing to open their hearts and home to adopting an Angel in need. Ziggy has an amazing mom and dad, and a built in best friend in his new brother (well, he has to compete with his grandpa for bff status we were told ) but he is absolutely already beyond loved. We wish you all every bit of happiness, laughter, love and blessings that life can bring your way.

Happiest tails handsome! You are so loved!

Fergus - Adopted 1/1/2024

Fergus decided he was going to start a new year on a positive note and adopted some new pawrents today.

Fergus is around 12 weeks old and came to us in November. Shortly after he arrived, he was hospitalized for hemorrhagic gastroenteritis and was very sick. He healed up nicely and has slowly been having treats added to his diet—and he hasn’t complained once!

Fergus is a pup who is going to require a lot of love, patience and dedication and we’re so thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts to adopting this adorable, but ornery little Angel. He has lots of walks, some training and some potential doggy day care days in his future and we just know he’s going to be the bestest boy he can be.

We wish all of you a life full of love and every day filled with laughter and adventure.

Happy tails sweet boy. You are so very loved!
