Adoption Success Stories!

Happy New Beginnings in 2025.

Our Favorite Part.

Amazing People Making Second Chances Possible.

We have one goal for every dog that crosses our path: to find their forever home. These wonderful individuals stepped up and offered our angels the second chance we promised them. To the adopters and to our fosters who make this possible we say "Thank You!"

Leto - Adopted 2/24/2025

On Friday morning, Leto decided to begin vomiting which was highly unusual, and vomiting a lot. So we took him to the vet, had X-rays done and there was a high suspicion of a blockage. So he spent the night Friday on fluids, getting an enema and trying to push everything through. On Saturday he was doing better and didnt need surgery but his GI tract was still pretty angry, and it seems it was all a part of his own master plan to snag himself a forever. (Just look at his smirk!)

Over the weekend, his treating vet—one of our regular awesome doctors who has been caring for him since birth— took him home to continue his care, and her whole family fell in love with this silly, sweet, handsome boy and he decided they were his family from the minute he arrived.

Leto was born to our beautiful Astrid in October. We didn’t even know his mom was expecting until about two weeks before giving birth, so they were named the “Secret” litter.

The pups all grew and Astrid did a great job with them, and they’ve been working on their social skills and learning the ins and outs of being in a home. Leto was our old soul in a puppy body and adapted to pretty much everything and anything. And he made that very apparent this weekend as well.

We are thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and making this handsome boy a part of their family. He obviously has a wonderful mom who can patch him up and keep him safe if his hound nose finds more trouble for his belly, he has a wonderful dad, some kitty siblings, he won over his doggo sister quickly, and best of all, he found himself two kids of his very own. He has a human brother to adventure, snuggle and play with for all of his days, and a human sister who he will bring comfort to, and he will find comfort in return from. We wish all of you every day filled with happiness, laughter and so much love you cant stand it.

Happiest tails, handsome boy! You are so very, very loved.

Sundae - Adopted 2/21/2025

Sundae came to us also at the end of 2024 and we found out she has idiopathic canine epilepsy. We knew it would take a very special family to give this girl all she would need to have the best life she could have.

We are so thankful to her foster family for showing her so much compassion, love and stability and for being her support through her medical treatment. She couldn’t have had a better home to get her ready for her furever.

We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adding this Angel to their lives. She has a wonderful mom and dad, and her very own fursister to spend her days with. We wish you all every good thing this life can offer you.

Happiest tails, beautiful girl. You are so very loved.

Asia - Adopted 2/21/2025

Asia is a senior gal who joined us at the very end of 2024 with her housemate Roscoe, as their mom had some health complications and had to go to assisted living. Roscoe is not yet adoptable as he is being treated for Lyme disease, needs dental surgery when that is finished, and needs a neuter surgery.

Asia has proved to be her own independent self, loving everyone, ruling the dogs at her foster and being an overall amazing girl. She recently had dental surgery herself and had to have the majority of her teeth removed due to very severe dental disease. She now feels so much better and was ready for her family to find her.

We are so thankful to her foster family for providing her structure, safety and so much love while we got her all fixed up. We can’t exist without so many people in our army, and fosters are a huge part of that.

We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adding this Angel in need to their lives. Asia has a wonderful mom and dad and two fur brothers to continue her reigning queen status with. We wish all of you the best of everything life can give you, and endless love.

Happiest tails, sweet girl. You are so very loved.

Abel - Adopted 2/7/2025

One of our adopters reached out when her husband found a dog at a job site who had been confined to a crate with no food or water. He asked to take the dog to get it to safety, and then they reached out for help.

Abel was skinny, missing a ton of hair from flea allergies and skin infections, and was afraid of so many things.

He went to his foster who did an amazing job of teaching him safety, security, confidence and how to enjoy being a dog. He learned what love is supposed to be like while he got the vet care he needed, and we are so very thankful to them for allowing this angel to flourish and get ready for a furever.

We are so grateful to his new mom for choosing to open her home and heart and adding this Angel in need. Abel has acres of fenced in yard to frolic in, a pool of his own, a golf cart to ride in, a whole castle all to himself, with his very kind new mom. We wish them the absolute best that this life can bring their way.

Happiest tails handsome boy! You are so very loved!

Chase - Adopted 2/4/2025

Chase (left), his mom Zoey and his sister Quinn came to the Haven at the end of November. Chase spent his time in his foster home learning a bunch of tricks and commands, getting the majority of his vet care finished up, and learning to become part of a stable, loving pack, which included his foster sister Finley, an Abby’s alumni who was named Love, to show him how to be a proper dog, get into all sorts of adventures and how to be a part of a family.

They knew pretty early on that Chase wasn’t going to be leaving, so today, his dad made it official! We wish all three of you the best of all that life can bring you.

Happiest tails, handsome boy. You are so very loved!

Kota - Adopted 2/1/2025

Kota arrived at the Haven in December with his sister Kami. Both had some issues to work through—fears of new experiences, socialization, confidence.

He went to his foster home and started learning how to be a proper dog and has come so far in about a month and a half. We are so thankful to his foster home for giving him the safety, security and structure he needed to develop a foundation to become the excellent dog we know he can be.

We are so grateful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adding this Angel in need. Kota has great parents, some human siblings and a doggo sister to help him continue to grow and flourish. We wish all of them the very best in everything life can bring them.

Happiest tails, handsome boy. You are so very loved!

Kami - Adopted 2/1/2025

Kami arrived at the Haven in December with her brother Kota. Both had some issues to work through—fears of new experiences, socialization, confidence.

She went to her foster home and started learning how to be a proper dog and has come so far in about a month and a half. We are so thankful to her foster home for giving her the safety, security and structure she needed to develop a foundation to become the excellent dog we know she can be.

We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and adding this Angel in need. Kami joins two of our Angel alumni, Suni & Tucker, and another fursister Nyx. She has a wonderful mom and dad who are well versed in shepherds, and an amazing shepherd pack to teach her the ways of a very loved life. We wish all of them the very best in everything life can bring them.

Happiest tails, beautiful girl. You are so very loved!

Sypher - Adopted 1/26/2025

Sypher was born to our beautiful Astrid in October. We didn’t even know her mom was expecting until about two weeks before giving birth, so they were named the “Secret” litter.

The pups all grew and Astrid did a great job with them, and they’ve been working on their social skills and learning the ins and outs of being in a home. Sypher showed himself to be a very sweet boy, with pretty good confidence and adaptability, who lives for snuggling and lap sitting and loves to be loved.

We are thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and making this handsome boy a part of their family. He has a wonderful mom and dad, three Hooman brothers to grow, adventure and find mischief with. We wish each of them a life filled with love and laughter, and all the snuggles they could ever dream of.

Happiest tails, handsome boy! You are so very, very loved!

Reeves - Adopted 1/25/2025

On September 8, 2020 at approximately 9:40pm, a little white puppy weighing 10.2 ounces was born and we named him Reeves. Reeves had a very protective mama and a whole lot of siblings. There were 11 in the litter. Reeves stayed with his mom, got his puppy vaccines and went on to find a forever home when he was about 10 weeks old with his dad named Brian.

He was the light of his life and was Brian’s sole companion in the home. Reeves came back to us in March of 2021 for a sleepover so that he could have his neuter surgery. It was completed, and he went back to his dad to live out his life in bliss.

Well, that was the plan.

Sadly, his dad fought cancer for quite some time and was a stoic man so never told us he was struggling. During this time, Reeves developed some allergies, which are common in bully mixes—especially the white ones. Due to his ongoing battle, he became not able to properly take care of Reeves though we know he loved him very much. Reeves’s allergies were flaring badly, his dad couldn’t take him out of the home due to his illness so his nails became overgrown. They were both in pretty rough shape.

We require updates from our adopters every 3 months. 4 times a year. They have to send videos and let us know how their dogs are doing. And Brian did his with no issue.

Until October of 2023. Brian didn’t send his update. So I reached out at the beginning of November. I texted his phone. I sent him a Facebook message. And received no reply. Knowing this wasn’t on par for him, I began doing some digging and found out that Brian had lost his battle to cancer. Reeves was living in the home alone, with one of Brian’s family members taking care of him the best that he could, but wasn’t able to financially or physically care for him at the time. I reached out to him and we arranged for this sweet boy to come back into our care.

Reeves returned to his foster home, the one he was born in, that November. We worked on clearing up his skin, getting him medications, updating his vetting, making sure he had the proper food. And he healed beautifully.

But he also became stressed because he wasn’t used to someone not being with him all the time. He wasn’t used to sharing a home with other dogs. He wasn’t used to anything other than the quiet life with his dad who had passed. His skin still had flares from time to time but nothing like previously.

Reeves has been with us since that November. And this past December, Brian’s brother Tim reached out to ask how he was doing. If he had been adopted. And truthfully we said no, he doesn’t trust new people easily and was still with his foster. And then he asked if he could see him.

So we set up several meets at Tim’s house. And though it took a minute, Reeves recognized him and began running around happier than he had been in an entire year. Tim’s living situation had changed since the previous year and asked about adopting him now that he could financially and physically take care of him. We had several more meets, and we scheduled his vaccines to be updated and then set a date.

And on Thursday, Reeves went home. With his new dad, his first dads brother. We sent him with enough of his prescription food and enough of his medications to last until his new dad can get him in at a clinic near his home. We sent him with his favorite toys, his prescription treats…. But most of all, we sent him with so much love, happiness and gratitude that he could be reunited with his family. And we couldn’t be happier for both of them, and wish them every day filled with love for each other and this life.

We love every single dog that comes through our doors immensely. Every single one. Not just for the time we have them, but for their entire lives. Their families become our family. Our fosters love them as their own and we are so thankful Reeves’ foster mom not only cared for him at birth, but also in his hardest season of his life. This situation is one of the exact reasons we require updates. One of the reasons we will always be here for our dogs, whether current or adopted, and one of the reasons we will always, always be here for their families to help with support if it is within our capability to do so.

Every single dog is an Abby’s dog for life, and always will be.

Happiest tails sweet Reeves. We love you so much. And we’re so thankful you have found your place. Thank you for being patient. Have the best life buddy.

Riddle - Adopted 1/24/2025

Riddle went home with his new mom and dad yesterday.

Riddle was born to our beautiful Astrid in October. We didn’t even know her mom was expecting until about two weeks before giving birth, so they were named the “Secret” litter.

The pups all grew and Astrid did a great job with them, and they’ve been working on their social skills and learning the ins and outs of being in a home. Riddle was one of the “big boys” of the pups, and made sure his siblings knew he ruled the kingdom. He showed them there was little to fear and tried to be the tough cookie on the block, but inside he’s a big ole mush who is really a sensitive kid but full of adventure.

We are thankful to his new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and making this handsome boy a part of their family. He has a wonderful mom and dad, who we are pretty sure will spoil him rotten. We wish each of them a life filled with love and laughter.

Happiest tails, handsome Riddle! You are so very, very loved!

Astrid - Adopted 1/20/2025

Astrid came to the haven via a humane officer after being removed from a home with thirteen other dogs who were stuck in crates and not being taken care of.

She began her vetting and soon had an approved family, but during their meets, her soon to be dad noticed that she looked a little rounder than she had the week before though she wasn’t huge or pronounced.

So we set up an ultrasound and xray, and sure enough, Astrid was hiding seven little “secrets.” She was moved to medical foster care so she could give birth, and a week later we had 7 new babies—Riddle, Rune, Velia, Pandora, Zeph, Leto and Sypher.

Astrid had a few medical hiccups after birth, but was a very, very good mom and tended to their every need and took care of them beautifully. She raised them up and began weaning them and when they reached 8 weeks old, she bid them adieu and went back to her original foster home to await her spay surgery and finishing touches.

During this entire process, which began in September when they originally applied for her, her new mom and dad visited with her. When the pups were old enough to spend some hours without their mom, she took mini day trips to what would become her new home. Her parents pulled out all the stops and were ready and willing to make sure they stuck by her and awaited the time she could come home for good. Today was that day.

We are so thankful to her foster homes for giving this girl their all, showering her with love, and doing everything she needed to be healthy, happy and ready for furever.

We are so grateful to her new home for choosing to open their home and hearts and adding this angel In need. She obviously has a very dedicated and amazing set of parents, but she also has a fur brother who’s been dealing with her mood swings—wanting to play and not wanting to play— and getting to know her while her hormones came back into alignment.

We wish all of you every day filled with happiness, joy, and above all, love.

Happy tails most sweet girl. You are so very, very loved by so many!

Felix - Adopted 1/18/2025

Felix was hit by a car on Thanksgiving and was taken to the emergency veterinarians at Animal Emergency Center who got him stable and cared for him until he could be transferred to Animal Care Center- Danville, Pennsylvania for a few days to remain under observation to be certain his liver laceration was healing. Once released to foster care, our amazing team at Veterinary Medical Center took over care. We learned he had a previous old hip fracture that was left untreated and healed on its own, but he remained stable enough to begin his vaccinations and basic care.

We’re so thankful to his foster families for opening their homes to allow this boy quiet safety to heal, and then working on helping him become the best boy he could be.

We’re so grateful to his forever family for choosing to open their hearts and home to adding this angel to their forever family. Felix has a wonderful mom and dad, some human siblings, some doggo siblings and even some guinea pigs and farm animals for him to bork at and keep in line. We wish all of you the best that life can bring in each love, joy and laughter.

Happiest tails, sweet boy. You are so very loved!

Tank - Adopted 1/17/2025

Tank and his siblings came to us at around 2.5-3weeks old with their mom after a humane officer called us for help. They had shelter in a shed, and some good samaritans were making sure mom had food, but they needed vet care, a home to be in, and to be properly taken care of.

We are so thankful to his fosters for opening their doors and taking care of this family so that we could make sure they grew healthy, strong and were being properly socialized while learning how to live as part of a family in preparation for forever homes.

We are so grateful to his new dad for choosing to open his home and heart and adding this Angel in need. Tank has his dad all to himself, along with another Hooman roommate, to keep entertained, to make sure he becomes an awesome pawrent, and of course, to make sure they get enough snuggles and laughter together. We wish you both every joy, every ounce of laughter and as much love as this life can bring you.

Zoey is scheduled for her spay surgery at the end of the month, but she was more than ready to welcome a brand new life, one she was able to find because a foster opened their home.

Zoey has a wonderful mom and dad, who she fully adores, and some doggo sisters to spend her days romping with and learning the ropes and way of life from. Pandora was the tiniest of all the pups, but she never let her lack of size be a disadvantage. She hung with the big dogs, and cuddled, snuggled and zoomied with the best of them. Today, Pandora was ready to go to her forever.

We are thankful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and making this beauty a part of their family. She has a wonderful mom and dad, and a doggo sister to learn from and play with, and some some human siblings too! We wish each of them a life filled with love and laughter.

Milan - Adopted 1/4/2025

Milan came to us over the summer with her siblings in rough shape after being found by animal control. They were skinny, had skin infections, and were strays and only babies. They got all healed up and awaited their forevers.

Milan was adopted but due to absolutely zero fault of her own, she came back to the Haven. We had her checked out by our vet staff (who are amazing!) and her former foster family welcomed her back into their home until she found a forever. And we had an approved family who was waiting for the right fit to complete their hearts. Her new mom even realized she had this sweatshirt come a few months ago with her name on it—so it must’ve been in the cards the universe dealt.

We are so thankful to her fosters for giving her safety, love and providing stability for her to help her transition and become the best dog she could be.

We are so grateful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts to this Angel in need. She has a wonderful mom and dad, a Fur sister doggo and a fur brother doggo to spend her days howling at fire whistles with, stealing couches and their whole hearts. We wish them the absolute most joy, love and snugs this life can bring them.

Happiest tails, beautiful. You are so very loved!

Velia learned quickly to use her puppy dog eyes to ask for love and forgiveness, she can be a bit of a drama queen from time to time, but she’s the happiest little girl a girl can be. And today, Velia was ready to go to her forever.

We are thankful to her new family for choosing to open their home and hearts and making this beauty a part of their family. She has a wonderful mom and dad, and a doggo sister to learn from and play with, and some kitty friends too! We wish each of them a life filled with love and laughter.
