Support Our Mission Step Into Fostering

At Abby’s Angels Animal Haven, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in making the world a better place for all. We are dedicated and committed to saving as many lives as possible, providing quality of life to those who are losing their battles and providing all the love and support that each animal deserves.

Abby’s (AAAH) is a 501(c)3, all volunteer, foster based nonprofit. We have fosters in Bedford, Somerset, Cambria, Juniata and Blair Counties. Some are even in surrounding states

We encourage you apply to adopt or to foster. Also please check out our adoption information and available dogs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please also review the

'all things information' here.

  • What is the difference between a rescue dog and a shelter dog?

Animal rescues are comparable to animal shelters in that they protect unhoused animals. However, because they are volunteer-run (thank you, fosters!) and receive no government funding, they operate out of private homes rather than public buildings with kennels.

  • Where can I see the available dogs?

Our adoptables page stays up-to-date and current with our available dogs.

Each available dog can be also be found on our facebook page under the photos tab and then select the “Adoptables" album or simply click here to view.

  • Do you have adoption fees?

Yes, our fees depend on the age, breed and other factors of a particular dog. A general guideline is as follows:

    0-8 years - $350

    9+ years - $200

Read more here about what this adoption fee includes and the average cost for us to completly vet one animal.

We do not make money off of adoptions. We are strictly non-profit and rely on donations to vet our animals and give them the care they deserve.

  • Where can I live to be considered to adopt and how do I apply?

At this time, we only adopt to residents of PA, MD, WV, OH, DE, and parts of NJ, NY and VA. If you have a question as to if where you live is accepted, please message us.

Step one is to always read 'all things information'

Then proceed to step 2: fill out an adoption application.

Please answer every question honestly. We do require a $15 application processing fee to start your application. If a donation is not made for this fee, we will not process your application. This usually prevents any impulse applications and we are able to determine that the person is seriously interested in one of our Angels. Please also double check the email you enter and all phone numbers.

  • How important is fostering to the rescue?

Update 8/28/2022: We NEED more fosters. Can you help? Read a message from founder here.

Fostering is literally one of the most important aspects of rescue and we need dedicated fosters who can let the dogs they’ve helped flourish, go to great homes when it’s their time. It’s not easy, but you can save countless lives.

Fosters are always needed. Please do not apply to be a foster with the intent to adopt. We understand that occasionally there are foster fails (I’ve done it myself!) but without fosters we simply can not continue to save lives.

If you think you may want to adopt a dog you are planning to foster, then fill out the adoption application instead.

  • What other ways can I show my support?

We are always looking for volunteers for fundraising, events, application processing, home visits and transports. If you are interested in any of these areas please send us a message or email.

We run solely on donations and without your support we cannot continue to impact the lives of the Angels in need.

To sponsor a dog, send us a message. We have monthly options to choose from.
